അനിൽ കാന്ത് IPS സംസ്ഥാന പൊലീസ് മേധാവി

 

ലോക്നാഥ് ബെഹ്റയുടെ പിന്‍ഗാമിയായി പൊലീസ് തലപ്പത്തേക്ക് ഡെല്‍ഹി സ്വദേശി അനില്‍ കാന്ത്. കേന്ദ്രം അംഗീകരിച്ച മൂന്നംഗ പട്ടികയില്‍ അനില്‍കാന്തായിരുന്നു ഏറ്റവും ജൂനിയര്‍. സുദേഷ് കുമാര്‍, ബി.സന്ധ്യ എനീ ഐ പി എസ് കാരെ ഒഴിവാക്കിയാണ് എ ഡി ജി പി  അനില്‍ കാന്തിനെ മന്ത്രിസഭായോഗം സംസ്ഥാന പോലീസ് ചീഫ് ആയി നിശ്ചയിച്ചത്. സ്ത്രീസുരക്ഷയ്ക്ക് പ്രാധാന്യം നല്‍കുമെന്ന് അനില്‍കാന്ത് പറഞ്ഞു.എങ്കിലും മന്ത്രിസഭായോഗത്തില്‍ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി പേര് നിര്‍ദേശിക്കുകായിരുന്നു. ഒന്നാം പിണറായി സര്‍ക്കാരില്‍ പ്രധാന പദവികള്‍ വഹിച്ചതും നിലവിലെ പൊലീസ് സംവിധാനവും സര്‍ക്കാരുമായും ഒത്തുപോകുന്നതുമാണ്  അനില്‍കാന്തിന് അനുഗ്രഹമായത്. വിരമിക്കുന്ന ഡി.ജി.പി ബെഹ്റയടക്കം ഉന്നത ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരും പൊലീസ് സംഘടനകളും ശുപാര്‍ശ ചെയ്തതും അധികയോഗ്യതയായി. പ്രഖ്യാപനത്തിന് പിന്നാലെ ആദ്യ പരിഗണനകള്‍ അദേഹം വ്യക്തമാക്കി.

പട്ടികവര്‍ഗ വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള കേരളത്തിലെ ആദ്യ ഡി.ജി.പിയെന്ന ചരിത്രം കുറിച്ചാണ് അനില്‍കാന്തിൻ്റെ നിയമനം. 1988 ബാച്ച് ഐ പി എസ് കാരനായ അനില്‍ കാന്ത് വയനാട്ടില്‍ എ.എസ്.പിയായിട്ടാണ് ഔദ്യോഗിക ജീവിതം തുടങ്ങിയത്. കൊച്ചി കമ്മീഷണറായും ദക്ഷിണമേഖല എ.ഡി.ജിപിയായും പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.  ജയില്‍, ഫയര്‍ഫോഴ്സ്, ക്രൈംബ്രാഞ്ച്, വിജിലന്‍സ് തുടങ്ങി പ്രധാന വിഭാഗങ്ങളുടെയെല്ലാം തലപ്പത്തെത്തി. പ്രഖ്യാപനത്തിന് പിന്നാലെ അഭിനന്ദനങ്ങളുമായി ഉന്നത ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരെല്ലാം വീട്ടിലെത്തി. ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയുടെ വസതിയിലെ വിരുന്നിന് ശേഷം വൈകിട്ട് പൊലീസ് ആസ്ഥാനത്തെത്തി ചുമതലയേല്‍ക്കും.

Delhi native Anil Kant succeeds Loknath Behra at the head of the police. Anil Kant was the most junior in the three-member list approved by the Centre. ADGP Anil Kant was appointed as the Chief of State Police by the Cabinet meeting excluding Sudesh Kumar IPS and B Sandhya IPS. Anil Kant said women's safety would be given priority. Chief Minister was proposing his name at the Cabinet meeting. Anil Kant was blessed with holding key positions in the first Pinarayi government and aligning himself with the current police system and the government. The recommendations of top officials and police organisations, including retiring DGP Behra, were also high qualification.

Anil Kant's appointment is about the history of being the first DGP in Kerala from the Scheduled Tribes. Anil Kant, a 1988 batch IPS man, started his official career as an ASP in Wayanad. He has served as Commissioner of Kochi and ADGP of South. He headed the prison, fire force, crime branch, vigilance and other important sections. Following the announcement, all the top officials came home with congratulations. After a party at the Chief Minister's residence at noon, he will take charge at the police headquarters in the evening.
