നദാൽ.. ഒരേ ഒരു നദാൽ. രണ്ടാം ഓസ്ട്രേലിയൻ ഓപ്പൺ, ഇരുപത്തിയൊന്നാം ഗ്രാൻഡ്സ്ലാം കിരീടം

ഓസ്‌ട്രേലിയന്‍ ഓപ്പണ്‍ കിരീടത്തില്‍ മുത്തമിട്ട് സ്‌പെയിനിൻ്റെ ടെന്നീസ് ഇതിഹാസം റാഫേല്‍ നദാല്‍. ഫൈനലില്‍ റഷ്യയുടെ ലോക രണ്ടാം നമ്പര്‍ താരം ഡാനില്‍ മെദ്‌വെദേവിനെ തകര്‍ത്താണ് നദാല്‍ കിരീടം സ്വാന്തമാക്കിയത്.

ഈ വിജയത്തോടെ, ലോക ടെന്നീസ് ചരിത്രത്തിൽ 21 ഗ്രാന്‍ഡ്സ്ലാം കിരീടം നേടുന്ന ആദ്യ പുരുഷതാരം എന്ന ചരിത്ര നേട്ടം ആറാം സീഡായ നദാല്‍ സ്വന്തം പേരില്‍ കുറിച്ചു. റോജര്‍ ഫെഡറര്‍, നൊവാക് ജോക്കോവിച്ച് എന്നിവരെ മറികടന്നാണ് 35 കാരനായ നദാല്‍ ഈ ചരിത്രനേട്ടം സ്വന്തമാക്കിയത്.  ആദ്യ രണ്ട് സെറ്റ് നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ട നദാല്‍ പിന്നീട് മൂന്ന് സെറ്റുകള്‍ നേടിക്കൊണ്ട് മത്സരം കൈപ്പിടിയിൽ ഒതുക്കി. സ്‌കോര്‍; 2-6, 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 7-5 

കളിയുടെ ആദ്യ ഘട്ടത്തിൽ മെദ്‌വെദേവ് അനായാസ വിജയം നേടുമെന്ന് തോന്നിച്ചെങ്കിലും, രണ്ട് സെറ്റ് നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ട ശേഷവും പരിചയസമ്പത്തിൻ്റെ കരുത്തില്‍ നദാല്‍ കളി തിരിച്ചുപിടിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. മൂന്ന്, നാല്, അഞ്ച് സെറ്റുകളില്‍ നദാലിൻ്റെ ഗംഭീര പ്രകടനത്തിന് മുന്നില്‍ പിടിച്ചുനില്‍ക്കാന്‍ മെദ്‌വെദേവിന് സാധിച്ചില്ല. 

നദാല്‍ നേടുന്ന രണ്ടാം ഓസ്‌ട്രേലിയന്‍ ഓപ്പണ്‍ കിരീടമാണിത്. ഇതിന് മുന്‍പ് 2009-ലാണ് താരം കിരീടത്തില്‍ മുത്തമിട്ടത്. അന്ന് ഇതിഹാസ താരം റോജര്‍ ഫെഡററെ കീഴടക്കിയാണ് നദാല്‍ കിരീടം സ്വന്തമാക്കിയത്. 

Spain's tennis legend Rafael Nadal wins Australian Open title Nadal defeated world number two Danil Medvedev of Russia in the final to win the title. With this victory, sixth seed Nadal became the first man to win 21 Grand Slam titles in world tennis history. Nadal, 35, has surpassed Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in this milestone. Nadal lost the first two sets and then went on to win the next three sets. Score; 2-6, 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 7-5

Although Medvedev looked set to win the first leg of the game, Nadal regained his composure after losing two sets. Medvedev could not keep up with Nadal's impressive performances in sets three, four and five. This is Nadal's second Australian Open title. He had previously won the title in 2009. Nadal defeated then-legend Roger Federer to win the title.
