പാരാലിമ്പിക്‌സ് - വെള്ളി തിളക്കത്തോടെ ഇന്ത്യയ്ക്ക് അഭിമാനമായി ഭവിന ബെന്‍ പട്ടേല്‍
പാരാലിമ്പിക്‌സില്‍ വനിതാ ടേബിള്‍ ടെന്നീസില്‍ ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ഭവിന പട്ടേലിന് വെള്ളി. ഫൈനലില്‍ ചൈനയുടെ ഷൗ യിങ്ങിനോട് നേരിട്ടുള്ള സെറ്റുകള്‍ക്ക്(3 -0) നായിരുന്നു ഭവിനയുടെ തോൽവി. തുടക്കം മുതൽക്ക് തന്നെ ചൈനീസ് താരം ഇന്ത്യൻ താരത്തിന് മേൽ ആധിപത്യം സ്ഥാപിച്ചിരുന്നു. മത്സരത്തിൽ ചൈനീസ് താരത്തിനെതിരെ കാര്യമായ വെല്ലുവിളി ഉയർത്താൻ ഭവിനയ്ക്ക് സാധിച്ചില്ല. നേരത്തെ ഗ്രൂപ്പ് ഘട്ട മത്സരത്തില്‍ ഇരുവരും നേർക്കു നേർ മത്സരിച്ചപ്പോഴും ഭവിന പട്ടേലിന് തോൽവിയേറ്റു വാങ്ങേണ്ടി വന്നിരുന്നു.
ക്ലാസ് ഫോര്‍ വനിതാ ടേബിള്‍ ടെന്നീസ് സെമിയില്‍ ചൈനയുടെ ലോക മൂന്നാം നമ്പര്‍ താരം ഷാങ് മിയാവോയെ അട്ടിമറിച്ചാണ് ഭവിന ഫൈനലിലേക്ക് യോഗ്യത നേടിയത്. 34 കാരിയായ ഭവിന അഹമ്മദാബാദ് സ്വദേശിനിയാണ്. ഇതാദ്യമായാണ് ഒരു ഇന്ത്യന്‍ താരം പാരാലിമ്പിക്‌സ് ടേബിള്‍ ടെന്നീസിൽ മെഡൽ സ്വന്തമാക്കുന്നത്. ഇത്തവണത്തെ ആദ്യ മെഡൽ കൂടിയാണിത്.

Silver for India's Bhavina Patel in women's table tennis at Paralympics. Bhavina lost to China's Zhou Ying in straight sets (3-0) in the final. From the very beginning, the Chinese star had dominated the Indian star. Bhavina could not mount a significant challenge against the Chinese star in the match. Bhavina Patel had to lose the group stage match earlier when both competed head-to-head.
Bhavina qualified for the final by overthrowing China's world No.3 Shang Miyao in the Class for Women's Table Tennis semis. Bhavina, 34, is a native of Ahmedabad. This is the first time an Indian player has won a medal in Paralympics table tennis. This is also the first medal this time.
