ശ്രീജേഷിന് രണ്ടു കോടി പാരിതോഷികം

ടോക്യോ ഒളിമ്പിക്‌സിൽ പുരുഷന്മാരുടെ ഹോക്കിയില്‍ വെങ്കലം നേടിയ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ ടീമംഗമായ പിആര്‍ ശ്രീജേഷിന് രണ്ടു കോടി രൂപ പാരിതോഷികം പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ച് സര്‍ക്കാര്‍. ഒളിമ്പിക്‌സില്‍ പങ്കെടുത്ത മറ്റു മലയാളി താരങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് അഞ്ചു ലക്ഷം രൂപ വീതം നല്‍കും. രണ്ടു കോടി രൂപയ്‌ക്കൊപ്പം ശ്രീജേഷിന് ജോലിയില്‍ സ്ഥാനക്കയറ്റവും നല്‍കും. വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ വകുപ്പില്‍ ഡപ്യൂട്ടി ഡയറക്ടർ സ്ഥാനത്ത് നിന്ന്  ജോയിന്റ് ഡയറക്ടറായാണ് സ്ഥാനക്കയറ്റം.

ശ്രീജേഷ് ഉള്‍പ്പെടെ ഒമ്പത് മലയാളികളാണ് ടോക്യോ ഒളിമ്പിക്‌സില്‍ പങ്കെടുത്തത്. ലോങ് ജമ്പില്‍ എം ശ്രീശങ്കര്‍, 400 മീറ്റര്‍ ഹര്‍ഡില്‍സില്‍ എംപി ജാബിര്‍, 20 കിലോമീറ്റര്‍ നടത്തത്തില്‍ കെ.ടി ഇര്‍ഫാന്‍, 4x400 മീറ്റര്‍ പുരുഷ റിലേയില്‍ മുഹമ്മദ് അനസ് യഹിയ, നോഹ നിര്‍മ്മല്‍ ടോം, അമോജ് ജേക്കബ്, 4x400 മീറ്റര്‍ മിക്‌സഡ് റിലേയില്‍ അലക്‌സ് ആന്റണി, നീന്തലില്‍ സജന്‍ പ്രകാശ് എന്നിവരാണ് ടോക്യോയില്‍ മത്സരിച്ച മലയാളികള്‍. 

നേരത്തെ ശ്രീജേഷിന് പാരിതോഷികം പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കാത്തതിനെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് സംസ്ഥാന സര്‍ക്കാരിനെതിരേ വിമര്‍ശനമുയര്‍ന്നിരുന്നു. കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം കേരളത്തിലെത്തിയ ശ്രീജേഷും ഇതേ ചോദ്യം നേരിട്ടിരുന്നു. പാരിതോഷികം പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കാത്ത വിഷയത്തില്‍ ശ്രീജേഷ് പ്രതികരിച്ചിരുന്നില്ല. മാത്രിസഭായോഗത്തിലാണ് ശ്രീജേഷിൻ്റെ പാരിതോഷികകാര്യം തീരുമാനിച്ചത് എന്ന കായിക മന്ത്രി വി അബ്‌ദുറഹിമാൻ പത്താസമ്മേളനത്തില പറഞ്ഞു. 

The government announced a reward of Rs 2 crore for P R Sreejesh, an Indian team-member who won bronze in men's hockey at the Tokyo Olympics. Five lakh rupees each will be given to other Malayali players who participated in the Tokyo Olympics. Along with Rs 2 crore, Srijesh will be promoted from deputy director to joint director in the education department.

The Tokyo Olympics were attended by nine malayalis, including Sreejesh. M Srishankar in the long jump, MP Jabir in the 400 m hurdles, KT Irfan on a 20 km walk, Mohammad Anas Yahia in the 4x400 meter men's relay, Noah Nirmal Tom, Amoj Jacob, Alex Antony in the 4x400 meter mixed relay and Sajan Prakash in swimming.

Earlier, there was criticism of the state government after sreejesh was not declared a reward. Sreejesh, who had come to Kerala the previous day, had faced the same question. Sreejesh had not responded to the issue of non-announcement of the reward. Sports Minister V Abdurahiman told in press conference that Sreejesh's reward was decided at the cabinet meeting.
