ഭവാനിപുരിലൂടെ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി പദം ഉറപ്പിച്ച് മമത

ഭവാനിപുരിൽ  മമതയ്ക്ക് മുന്നിൽ അടിപതറി ബിജെപി. നന്ദിഗ്രാമിലെ അട്ടിമറി വിജയം വീണ്ടും പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ച് ബിജെപിക്ക് തന്ത്രങ്ങൾ പിഴച്ചു. ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ഏക വനിതാ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയെന്ന സ്ഥാനം, 58,832 വോട്ടിൻ്റെ റെക്കോർ‍ഡ് ഭൂരിപക്ഷത്തിൽ  ഒന്നുകൂടി ഉറപ്പിച്ച് മമത. ബിജെപിയുടെ പ്രിയങ്ക ട്രിബ്രവാളിനെയാണ് തൃണമൂൽ സ്ഥാനാർഥിയും ബംഗാള്‍ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയുമായ മമത ബാനർജി കീഴ്പ്പെടുത്തി. 

നന്ദിഗ്രാമിൽ നടന്ന ബിജെപി ഗൂഢാലോചനയ്ക്ക് ഉചിതമായ മറുപടിയെന്നാണ് ഭവാനിപുരിലെ വിജയത്തെ മമത വിശേഷിച്ചത്. ഏപ്രിൽ-മാർച്ച് മാസങ്ങളിലെ ബംഗാൾ നിയമസഭാ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിൽ നന്ദിഗ്രാമിൽ സുവേന്ദു അധികാരിയോട് പരാജയപ്പെട്ട മമത ബാനർജിക്ക് മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി സ്ഥാനം നിലനിർത്താൻ ഉപതിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പു വിജയം അനിവാര്യമായിരുന്നു.

ബംഗാളിൽ ‘മിനി ഭാരത്’ എന്ന് വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന ഭവാനിപുരിൽ ജനസംഖ്യയുടെ 40 ശതമാനവും ഗുജറാത്തികളും പഞ്ചാബികളും മാർവാടികളും ബിഹാറികളുമാണ്. മമതയുടെ സ്വന്തം തട്ടകവുമാണ് ഭവാനിപുർ. 2011, 2016 വർഷങ്ങളിൽ ഇവിടെ നിന്നു ജയിച്ച മമത രാഷ്ട്രീയ വാശിക്കാണ് ഇത്തവണ നന്ദിഗ്രാമിൽ മത്സരിച്ചത്. വിശ്വസ്തനായ സുവേന്ദു അധികാരി ബിജെപിയിലേക്ക് മാറി നന്ദിഗ്രാമിൽ മത്സരിച്ചപ്പോൾ മമതയും നന്ദിഗ്രാമിൽ മത്സരിക്കാൻ തീരുമാനിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.

മറ്റൊരു മണ്ഡലത്തിൽ മത്സരിക്കാൻ അനുയായികൾ നിർബന്ധിച്ചെങ്കിലും മമത വഴങ്ങിയില്ല. അന്ന് തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് പ്രചാരണത്തിനിടെ പരുക്കേറ്റ് ആശുപത്രിയിലായെങ്കിലും പിന്നീട് വീല്‍ചെയറില്‍ പ്രചാരണത്തിനെത്തി. പ്ലാസ്റ്ററിട്ട കാലും മമത തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിൽ പ്രചാരണായുധമാക്കി. പക്ഷേ പരാജയമായിരുന്നു ഫലം. 1,956 വോട്ടുകളുടെ ഭൂരിപക്ഷത്തില്‍ സുവേന്ദു ജയിച്ചു, പ്രതിപക്ഷനേതാവായി, സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് ബിജെപിയുടെ മുഖമായി.

Mamata Banerjee described the victory in Bhawanipur as an appropriate replay to the BJP conspiracy in Nandigram. Mamata Banerjee, who lost to Suvendu Adhikari in Nandigram in the April-March Bengal Assembly elections, needed a by-election victory to retain the Chief Minister's post.

Gujaratis, Punjabis, Marwaris and Biharis make up 40 per cent of the population of Bhavanipur, also known as 'Mini Bharat' in Bengal. Bhavanipur is also Mamata's hometown. Mamata Banerjee, who won from here in 2011 and 2016, is contesting from Nandigram this time. When the loyal Suvendu Adhikari switched to the BJP and contested in Nandigram, Mamata also decided to contest in Nandigram.

Mamata Banerjee was forced to contest in another constituency but she refused. He was hospitalized with injuries during the election campaign but later returned to the campaign in a wheelchair. Mamata also used plastered legs as a campaign weapon in the election. But the result was failure. Suvendu won with a majority of 1,956 votes, becoming the Leader of the Opposition and the face of the BJP in the state.
