കോവിഡ് നഷ്ടപരിഹാരം: അപേക്ഷകരുടെ എണ്ണം കേരളത്തില്‍ എന്തുകൊണ്ട് കുറവെന്ന് സുപ്രീം കോടതി
സര്‍ക്കാരിന്റെ ഔദ്യോഗിക കണക്കുകള്‍ പ്രകാരം ജനുവരി പത്തുവരെ സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് 49,300 പേരാണ് കോവിഡ് ബാധിച്ച് മരിച്ചത്. ഇതില്‍ 27,274 പേരുടെ ബന്ധുക്കള്‍ നഷ്ടപരിഹാരത്തിനായി അപേക്ഷ നല്‍കി. ഇതില്‍ 23,652 പേരുടെ ബന്ധുക്കള്‍ക്ക് അരലക്ഷം രൂപവീതം നഷ്ടപരിഹാരം നല്‍കിയെന്ന് സംസ്ഥാന സര്‍ക്കാറിന്റെ സ്റ്റാന്റിങ് കോണ്‍സല്‍ നിഷേ രാജന്‍ ഷൊങ്കര്‍ കോടതിയെ അറിയിച്ചു. എന്നാല്‍ മറ്റ് പല സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലും സര്‍ക്കാരുകളുടെ ഔദ്യോഗിക കണക്കുകളില്‍ ഉള്ള കോവിഡ് മരണത്തെക്കാളും കൂടുതല്‍ പേര് നഷ്ടപരിഹാരത്തിന് അപേക്ഷ നല്‍കിയിട്ടുണ്ടെന്ന് ജസ്റ്റിസ് എം ആര്‍ ഷാ വിമർശിച്ചു.
നഷ്ടപരിഹാരത്തിന് അപേക്ഷ നല്‍കാത്തവരുടെ വീടുകളില്‍ ജില്ലാ, താലൂക്ക് തലങ്ങളിലുള്ള ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥര്‍ നേരിട്ടെത്തി പദ്ധതിയെപ്പറ്റി വിശദീകരിക്കണമെന്ന് സുപ്രീം കോടതി നിര്‍ദേശിച്ചു. ലഭിക്കുന്ന അപേക്ഷകളില്‍ സംസ്ഥാന സർക്കാരുകൾ അടിയന്തിരമായി തീരുമാനം എടുക്കണം. ഇതുവരെ ലഭിച്ച അപേക്ഷകളില്‍ ഒരാഴ്ചക്കുള്ളില്‍ തീരുമാനം എടുക്കാനും സംസ്ഥാന സര്‍ക്കാരിനോട് സുപ്രീം കോടതി നിര്‍ദേശിച്ചു. നഷ്ടപരിഹാര വിതരണം മന്ദഗതിയില്‍ നടക്കുന്ന ബിഹാറിലെയും, ആന്ധ്രയിലെയും ചീഫ് സെക്രട്ടറിമാരോട് കോടതി നടപടികളില്‍ പങ്കെടുത്ത് വിശദീകരണം നല്‍കണമെന്നും സുപ്രീം കോടതി നിര്‍ദേശിച്ചു.

State Governments should take an urgent decision on the applications received. The apex court also directed the state government to take a decision on the applications received so far within a week.
