റഷ്യ യുക്രൈയിനെതിരെ യുദ്ധം തുടങ്ങി. 50 മരണം

കിഴക്കൻ മേഖലയിൽ പ്രത്യേക സൈനിക നടപടിയ്ക്ക് റഷ്യൻ പ്രസിഡന്റ് വ്‌ളാഡിമിർ പുട്ടിൻ അനുമതി നൽകിയതിന് പിന്നാലെ യുക്രൈയിൻ നഗരങ്ങളിൽ റഷ്യൻ സൈന്യം മിസൈൽ ആക്രമണം നടത്തുകയും റഷ്യൻ സൈനികരെ തെക്കൻ തീരത്ത് അണിനിരത്തുകയും ചെയ്‌തു. റഷ്യൻ സ്റ്റേറ്റ് ടിവി വഴി പുടിൻ രാജ്യത്തെ അഭിസംബോധന ചെയ്തതിന്  തൊട്ടുപിന്നാലെ, യുക്രൈയിൻ തലസ്ഥാനമായ കീവിൽ പുലർച്ചെ സ്ഫോടനങ്ങളുടെ ശബ്ദം കേട്ടതായി റോയിട്ടേഴ്‌സ് റിപ്പോർട് ചെയ്തു. തലസ്ഥാനത്തെ പ്രധാന വിമാനത്താവളത്തിന് സമീപം വെടിയൊച്ചകൾ മുഴങ്ങിയതായും, നഗരത്തിന് മുകളിൽ സൈറണുകൾ കേട്ടതായും  ഇൻ്റർഫാക്സ് വാർത്താ ഏജൻസി പറഞ്ഞു.

"Russia's security, development and survival are not possible under the constant threat posed by modern-day Ukraine," Putin said. "All responsibility for the bloodshed lies with the Ukrainian government," Putin said. At present, the full extent of Russian military action is not immediately clear, but Putin said: "Our plans do not include the occupation of Ukrainian territories. We are not going to impose anything by force."

During an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council in New York, Putin said he had ordered Russian troops to protect civilians and called on Ukrainian forces to lay down their arms.
