രാജ്യത്തെ ആദ്യ മങ്കിപോക്സ് കേസ് കേരളത്തിൽ

ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ മങ്കിപോക്സ് കേസ് കേരളത്തിൽ സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചു. ജൂലൈ ഒൻപതിന് അബുദാബിയിൽനിന്നെത്തിയ കൊല്ലം ജില്ലക്കാരനായ യുവാവാണ് രോഗി. തിരുവനന്തപുരം ഗവൺമെൻ്റ് മെഡിക്കൽ കോളജിലെ ഐസലേഷൻ വാർഡിലുള്ള രോഗിയുടെ ആരോഗ്യനില തൃപ്തികരമാണെന്നു ഡോക്ടർമാർ അറിയിച്ചു. വിമാനത്തിലും നാട്ടിലെത്തിയശേഷവും മറ്റുള്ളവരുമായി അടുത്ത സമ്പർക്കം ഒഴിവാക്കിയിരുന്നെന്നും മാസ്ക്കും പി പി ഇ കിറ്റും ധരിച്ചിരുന്നുവെന്ന് യുവാവ് വ്യക്തമാക്കി

അബുദാബിയിൽ മങ്കിപോക്സ് സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ച വ്യക്തിയുമായി സമ്പർക്കമുണ്ടായ യുവാവ് ചെറിയ ലക്ഷണങ്ങളുള്ളപ്പോഴാണ് നാട്ടിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിയത്. മാതാപിതാക്കളും ആശുപത്രിയിൽ നിരീക്ഷണത്തിലാണ്. ഇവർക്കു രോഗലക്ഷണമില്ല. വിമാനത്തിൽ അടുത്ത സീറ്റുകളിലിരുന്ന 11 പേർ, തിരുവനന്തപുരം വിമാനത്താവളത്തിൽനിന്നു കൊല്ലം വരെയെത്തിച്ച ടാക്സി കാർ ഡ്രൈവർ, വീട്ടിൽനിന്നു കൊല്ലത്തെ സ്വകാര്യ ആശുപത്രിയിലെത്തിച്ച ഓട്ടോ ഡ്രൈവർ, ഇവിടെ പരിചരിച്ച ആരോഗ്യപ്രവർത്തകർ എന്നിവരും നിരീക്ഷണത്തിലാണ്. 

മങ്കിപോക്സ് - എന്ത്? 

ആഫ്രിക്കൻ രാജ്യങ്ങളിൽ കണ്ടെത്തിയ രോഗം തുടർന്ന് യൂറോപ്പിലേക്കും  യുഎസിലേക്കും വ്യാപിച്ച രോഗമാണ് ഇപ്പോൾ ഇന്ത്യയിലും സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചത്. 63 രാജ്യങ്ങളിലായി ഇതുവരെ 9200 പേർക്കു രോഗം ബാധിച്ചെന്നാണ് ലോകാരോഗ്യ സംഘടനയുടെ കണക്ക്.

ലോകത്തുനിന്ന്വ തുടച്ചുനീക്കപ്പെട്ട സൂരിയുമായി സാമ്യമുണ്ടെങ്കിലും കോവിഡിനെ അപേക്ഷിച്ച് മങ്കിപോക്സിനു തീവ്രതയും മരണ നിരക്കും കുറവാണ്. വസൂരി വൈറസുകൾ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്ന പോക്സ്‌വിറിഡൈ കുടുംബത്തിലെ മങ്കിപോക്സ് വൈറസുകളാണ് രോഗം പരത്തുന്നത്. 

• വൈറസ് ശരീരത്തിലെത്തി രോഗമായി പരിണമിക്കാൻ 6–13 ദിവസം വരെയെടുക്കാം. ലക്ഷണങ്ങൾ 2–4 ആഴ്ച നീണ്ടുനിൽക്കാം.
• പനി, കടുത്ത തലവേദന, കഴലവീക്കം, നടുവേദന, പേശീവേദന, ക്ഷീണം എന്നിവയാണു പ്രാരംഭ ലക്ഷണങ്ങൾ.
• പനി വന്ന് 13 ദിവസത്തിനകം ദേഹത്ത് കുമിളകൾ വരും. മുഖത്തും കൈകാലുകളിലുമാകും കൂടുതൽ. കൈപ്പത്തി, ജനനേന്ദ്രിയം, നേത്രഭാഗങ്ങൾ തുടങ്ങിയിടങ്ങളിലും വരാം.
• വയറസ് മൂലമുള്ള രോഗമായതിനാൽ പ്രത്യേക ചികിത്സ ലഭ്യമല്ല. ലക്ഷണങ്ങൾ ലഘൂകരിക്കാനുള്ള ചികിത്സയാണു നൽകുന്നത്.
• മൃഗങ്ങളുമായിയുള്ള സമ്പർക്കം ഒഴിവാക്കണം.

India's first monkeypox case confirmed in Kerala The patient is a young man from Kollam district who came from Abu Dhabi on July 9. The doctors informed that the health condition of the patient in the isolation ward of Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College is satisfactory. The young man stated that he avoided close contact with others during the flight and after reaching home and wore a mask and PPE kit.

A young man who came into contact with a person who tested positive for monkeypox in Abu Dhabi returned home with mild symptoms. The parents are also under observation at the hospital. They have no symptoms. The 11 people who were in the next seats on the plane, the taxi car driver who reached Kollam from Thiruvananthapuram airport, the auto driver who took them from home to the private hospital in Kollam and the health workers who treated them here are also under observation.

What is Monkeypox?

The disease, which was found in African countries and then spread to Europe and the US, has now been confirmed in India. According to the World Health Organization, 9200 people have been infected so far in 63 countries.

Although similar to Suri, which has been eradicated from the world, monkeypox is less severe and less fatal than covid. The disease is caused by monkeypox viruses in the Poxviridae family, which includes the smallpox viruses.

• It can take 6-13 days for the virus to enter the body and develop into a disease. Symptoms may last 2–4 weeks.
• Initial symptoms include fever, severe headache, sinusitis, back pain, muscle aches and fatigue.
• Blisters appear on the body within 13 days after the onset of fever. More on the face and hands. It can also occur on the palms, genitals, and eye areas.
• As it is a viral disease, no specific treatment is available. Treatment is given to alleviate the symptoms.
• Avoid contact with animals.
