ഗായിക പത്മഭൂഷൺ വാണി ജയറാം അന്തരിച്ചു

നിത്യഹരിത ഗായിക വാണി ജയറാം (77) ഇനി ഓർമ. വാണി ജയറാമിനെ ഇന്ന് ചെന്നൈയിലെ വസതിയിൽ മരിച്ചനിലയിൽ കണ്ടെത്തുകയായിരുന്നു. ഈ വർഷം രാജ്യം പത്മഭൂഷൺ നൽകി ആദരിച്ചിരുന്നു. മൂന്നു തവണ മികച്ച പിന്നണി ഗായികയ്ക്കുള്ള ദേശീയ അവാർഡ് ലഭിച്ച വാണി മലയാളം, തമിഴ്, ഹിന്ദി, മറാത്തി, തെലുങ്ക്, ബംഗാളി, കന്നഡ, ഗുജറാത്തി, തുടങ്ങി ഇരുപതോളം ഇന്ത്യൻ ഭാഷകളിൽ പതിനായിരത്തിലേറെ പാട്ടുകൾ പാടിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. സ്വപ്നം എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിൽ പാടാനായി സലീൽ ചൗധരിയാണ് വാണിയെ മലയാളത്തിൽ കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നത്.

തമിഴ്നാട്ടിലെ വെല്ലൂരിൽ ജനിച്ച കലൈവാണി, ഹിന്ദി സിനിമയിൽ പാടി തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ ഭർത്താവിന്റെ പേര് കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്ത് വാണി ജയറാം ആയത്. ഇക്കണോമിക്സിൽ ബിരുദം നേടിയ വാണിക്ക് എസ്ബിഐയിൽ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥയായി ജോലി ലഭിച്ചു. മുംബൈ സ്വദേശിയും ഇൻഡോ ബൽജിയം ചേംബർ ഓഫ് കൊമേഴ്സ് എക്സിക്യുട്ടീവ് സെക്രട്ടറിയുമായ ജയറാമിനെയാണ് വിവാഹം ചെയ്തത്. അച്ഛൻ ദൊരൈസ്വാമി കൊൽക്കത്ത ഇൻഡോ–ജപ്പാൻ സ്റ്റീൽസ് ലിമിറ്റഡിൽ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥനായിരുന്നു. അമ്മ പത്മാവതി പാടുകയും വീണ വായിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുമായിരുന്നു.

പ്രഫഷണൽ ഗായിക എന്ന നിലയിലുള്ള വാണിയുടെ വളർച്ചയ്ക്ക് താങ്ങുംതണലും വഴികാട്ടിയുമായത് സംഗീതസ്നേഹിയും സിത്താർ വിദഗ്ധനുമായ ഭർത്താവ് ജയറാം ആയിരുന്നു. അടുത്ത കാലത്ത് പുലിമുരുകൻ എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിലെ ‘മാനത്തെ മാരിക്കുറുമ്പേ പെയ്യല്ലേ’,  ആക്‌ഷൻ ഹീറോ ബിജു എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിലെ ‘പൂക്കൾ പനിനീർ പൂക്കൾ’, 1983 എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിലെ ‘ഓല‍‌‌ഞ്ഞാലി കുരുവി’ എന്നീ പാട്ടുകളിലൂടെ മലയാള ചലച്ചിത്ര സംഗീതലോകത്തേക്ക് അതിശക്തമായൊരു തിരിച്ചുവരവ് നടത്തിയിരുന്നു വാണി ജയറാം.

വാൽക്കണ്ണെഴുതി വനപുഷ്പം ചൂടി, ആഷാഢമാസം, കരുണ ചെയ്യുവാൻ എന്തുതാമസം, മഞ്ചാടിക്കുന്നിൽ, ഒന്നാനാംകുന്നിന്മേൽ, നാടൻ പാട്ടിലെ മൈന, ധുംതനധും തനന ചിലങ്കേ, മാമലയിലെ പൂമരം പൂത്ത നാൾ, മറഞ്ഞിരുന്നാലും മനസ്സിന്റെ കണ്ണിൽ, ഏതോ ജന്മ കൽപനയിൽ, പത്മതീർഥ കരയിൽ, കിളിയേ കിളി കിളിയേ, എന്റെ കൈയിൽ പൂത്തിരി തുടങ്ങിയ നൂറുകണക്കിന് മധുരഗാനങ്ങൾ വാണിയുടെ ശബ്ദം അനശ്വരമാക്കി,

എം എസ് വിശ്വനാഥൻ സംഗീതസംവിധാനം നിർവഹിച്ച അപൂർവരാഗങ്ങൾ എന്ന തമിഴ് ചിത്രത്തിലെയും കെ വി മഹാദേവൻ ഈണമിട്ട ശങ്കരാഭരണം, സ്വാതികിരണം എന്നീ തെലുങ്ക് ചിത്രങ്ങളിലെയും ഗാനങ്ങളാണ് വാണിയെ ദേശീയ പുരസ്കാരങ്ങൾക്ക് അർഹയാക്കിയത്. ഗുജറാത്ത്, ഒഡിഷ, തമിഴ്നാട്, ആന്ധ്രപ്രദേശ് സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളുടെ മികച്ച പിന്നണി ഗായിക അവാർഡുകളും ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

Evergreen singer Vani Jayaram (77) is no more. Vani Jayaram was found dead at his residence in Chennai, Tamil Nādu today. This year the country honored him with Padma Bhushan. A three-time winner of the National Award for Best Playback Singer, Vani has sung over 10,000 songs in over 20 Indian languages including Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, Bengali, Kannada, Gujarati and more. Vani is brought to Malayalam by Salil Choudhary to sing in the film 'Samaya'.

Kalaivani was born in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, and when she started singing in Hindi films, she added her husband's name and became Vani Jayaram. After graduating in Economics, Vani got a job as an officer in SBI. Married to Jayaram, a native of Mumbai and Executive Secretary of the Indo-Belgium Chamber of Commerce. Father Doraiswamy was an officer in Kolkata Indo-Japan Steels Limited. Amma used to sing Padmavati and play Veena.

Vaani's growth as a professional singer was supported and guided by her husband Jayaram, a music lover and sitar expert. Recently, Vani Jayaram made a strong comeback to the Malayalam film music world with the songs 'Manate Marikurumbe Peiyalle' in the film Pulimurugan, 'Pookkal Panineer Puliyum' in the film Action Hero Biju and 'Olanjali Kuruvi' in the film 1983.

Vaani won national awards for her songs in the Tamil film Apoorraagaman, composed by MS Viswanathan, and in the Telugu films Shankarabharanam and Swathikiran, composed by KV Mahadevan. She has also received the best playback singer awards of the states of Gujarat, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
