രത്നഗിരിയിൽ നിന്ന് കോഴിക്കോടേക്ക് പ്രതിയുമായി വന്ന കാസറഗോഡ് രെജിസ്ട്രേഷൻ ടയോട്ട ഫോർച്ച്യൂണർ കാർ കണ്ണൂരിൽ വെച്ച് ടയർ പഞ്ചർ ആവുകയും ഒരു മണിക്കൂർ അവിടെ കുടുങ്ങി കിടക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന സാഹചര്യമുണ്ടായി. ആ സമയം ലോക്കൽ പോലീസിനെ അറിയിക്കുകയോ, മറ്റൊരു വാഹനത്തിനായി ലോക്കൽ പോലീസിൻ്റെ സഹായം തേടുകയോ ചെയ്യാതെ ഒരു മണിക്കൂറിന് ശേഷം മറ്റൊരു സ്വകാര്യ വാഹനത്തിൽ പ്രതിയെ കണ്ണൂരിൽ നിന്ന് കോഴിക്കോടേക്ക് കൊണ്ട് വരികയാണ് ചെയ്തത്. പ്രതിയുടെ സുരക്ഷയെ മുൻ നിർത്തി, വാഹനം സഞ്ചാര യോഗ്യമല്ലാത്തയാൽ ലോക്കൽ പോലീസിൻ്റെ സഹായം തേടുക എന്നത് പ്രാഥമിക കാര്യമാണ്. എന്നാൽ അത് ഉണ്ടായില്ല.

കണ്ണൂർ മാമ്മാക്കുന്ന് എത്തിയതോടെ പുലർച്ചെ 3.35ന് കാറിന്റെ പിൻഭാഗത്തെ ടയർ പൊട്ടുകയായിരുന്നു. 45 മിനിറ്റിനുശേഷം എടക്കാട് പൊലീസ് സ്ഥലത്തെത്തി വാഹനത്തിന് സുരക്ഷയൊരുക്കി. പിന്നാലെ തുടർ യാത്രയ്ക്കായി കണ്ണൂർ എടിഎസിന്റെ വാഹനം എത്തിച്ചു. എന്നാൽ ഈ വാഹനവും എൻജിൻ തകരാർ കാരണം സഞ്ചാര യോഗ്യമല്ലാതായി. പിന്നീട് നാലേമുക്കാലോടെ സ്വകാര്യ വാഹനത്തിൽ കയറ്റിയാണ് പ്രതിയെ കോഴിക്കോട് എത്തിച്ചത്.
