പെഗാസസ് - ചാര സോഫ്‌റ്റ്​വെയർ ഇന്ത്യ വാങ്ങിയെന്ന് സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ച് ന്യൂയോർക്ക് ടെെംസ്

ഇസ്രയേലിനിർമിത ചാര സോഫ്‌റ്റ്​വെയറായ പെഗാസസ് ഇന്ത്യ വാങ്ങിയെന്ന വെളിപ്പെടുത്തലുമായി ന്യൂയോർക്ക് ടൈംസ്. 2017ലെ പ്രതിരോധ കരാറിൻ്റെ ഭാഗമായാണ് പെഗാസസ് വാങ്ങിയതെന്ന് ന്യൂയോർക്ക് ടൈംസ് റിപ്പോർട്ടിൽ പറയുന്നു. റിപ്പോർട്ട് അനുസരിച്ച് രണ്ട് ബില്ല്യണ്‍ ഡോളറിനാണ് പെഗാസസും മിസൈല്‍ സംവിധാനവും ഇന്ത്യ വാങ്ങിയത്. 2017ല്‍ നരേന്ദ്രമോദി സന്ദര്‍ശിച്ചപ്പോഴാണ് ഇതില്‍ തീരുമാനമായതെന്ന് ന്യൂയോര്‍ക്ക് ടൈംസ് റിപ്പോർട്ട് ചെയ്യുന്നത്. ലോകത്തിലെ പല സര്‍ക്കാരുകൾക്കും ഇസ്രായേല്‍ പെഗസസ് വിറ്റതായാണ് വിവരം.

2019-ല്‍ വാട്ട്സ്ആപ്പ് സോഫ്റ്റ്​വെയറിനുള്ളില്‍ നിയമവിരുദ്ധമായി കടന്നു കയറിയെന്നാരോപിച്ച് വാട്ട്സ്ആപ്പ് ഗ്രൂപ്പ് എന്‍എസ്ഓ ഗ്രൂപ്പിനെതിരേ കേസ് ഫയല്‍ ചെയ്തിരുന്നു. നിരവധി ഇന്ത്യൻ പ്രമുഖരുടെയും മാധ്യമപ്രവര്‍ത്തകരുടെയും ഫോണുകള്‍ പെഗാസസ് കടന്നുകയറിയതായി കണ്ടെത്തിയെന്ന് ഫെയ്സ്ബുക്ക് ഉടമസ്ഥതയിലുള്ള സ്ഥാപനം സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചിരുന്നു. പെഗാസസ് വാങ്ങിയതുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട സുപ്രീം കോടതി മറുപടികളില്‍ നിന്ന് കേന്ദ്ര സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ ഒഴിഞ്ഞുമാറിയിരുന്നു. 2021 ഓഗസ്റ്റില്‍, എന്‍എസ്ഒ ഗ്രൂപ്പുമായി തങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ഒരു ബിസിനസ് ഇടപാടും ഇല്ലെന്ന് പ്രതിരോധ മന്ത്രാലയം പ്രസ്താവനയില്‍ വ്യക്തമാക്കിയിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ ഈ വാദമാണ് ന്യൂയോര്‍ക്ക് ടൈംസ് അന്വേഷണ റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടിൽ തള്ളിയിരിക്കുന്നത്.ഈ സ്ഥിരീകരണം വരും ദിവസങ്ങളില്‍ വലിയ രാഷ്ട്രീയ വിവാദങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ഇത് തിരികൊളുത്തുമെന്നുറപ്പാണ്.

In August 2021, the Ministry of Defense stated in a statement that it had no business dealings with the NSO Group. But the New York Times has rejected the allegations in a report.
