കസഖ്സ്ഥാൻ: മുൻ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയെ രാജ്യദ്രോഹക്കുറ്റം ചുമത്തി അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തു

കസഖ്സ്ഥാനിൽ ഇന്ധനവില വർധനയെച്ചൊല്ലി ആരംഭിച്ച  പ്രക്ഷോഭത്തെ പിന്തുണച്ചതിന് മുൻ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയും ദേശീയ സുരക്ഷാ സമിതി മുൻ അധ്യക്ഷനുമായ കരിം മാസിമോവിനെ രാജ്യദ്രോഹക്കുറ്റം ചുമത്തി അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തു. കഴിഞ്ഞയാഴ്ചയാണ് മാസിമോവിനെ സമിതി അധ്യക്ഷസ്ഥാനത്തു നിന്ന് പ്രസിഡന്റ് കാസിം ജോമർട് ടൊകയേവ് നീക്കിയത്. നൂർസുൽത്താൻ നസർബയേവ് പ്രസിഡൻ്റ് യിരുന്നപ്പോൾ 2 തവണ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി ആയിരുന്നു മാസിമോവ്. ജനരോഷത്തെ തുടർന്ന് സർക്കാർ രാജിവയ്ക്കുകയും രാജ്യത്ത് അടിയന്തരാവസ്ഥ പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തിട്ടും പ്രക്ഷോഭം തുടരുകയാണ്. പൊലീസ് വെടിവയ്പിൽ 26 പേർ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടതായാണ് കണക്ക്. അക്രമങ്ങളിൽ 18 സുരക്ഷാ സൈനികരും കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടു. 4400 പേരെ അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. 

അക്രമികളെ കണ്ടാലുടൻ വെടിവയ്ക്കാൻ പ്രസിഡൻ്റിൻ്റെ ഉത്തരവുള്ളതിനാൽ ഇന്നലെ അൽമാട്ടി നഗരത്തിൽ സ്ഥിതി പൊതുവേ ശാന്തമായിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ അക്താവുവിൽ പ്രതിഷേധക്കാരെ പൊലീസ് വിരട്ടിയോടിച്ചു. കിസിലോർദയിൽ അങ്ങിങ്ങ് വെടിയൊച്ച മുഴങ്ങി. പ്രധാന നഗരങ്ങളിലെല്ലാം കനത്ത സൈനീക സാന്നിധ്യമുണ്ട്.  റഷ്യയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലുള്ള 6 മുൻ സോവിയറ്റ് റിപ്പബ്ലിക്കുകളുടെ സൈനിക സഖ്യമായ കലക്ടീവ് സെക്യൂരിറ്റി ട്രീറ്റി ഓർഗനൈസേഷൻ 2500 സൈനികരെ സമാധാനപാലനത്തിനായി കസഖ്സ്ഥാനിലേക്ക് അയച്ചിരുന്നു. പ്രസിഡൻ്റിൻ്റെ ഓഫിസിനുൾപ്പെടെ ഇവരാണ് സുരക്ഷയൊരുക്കുന്നത്. എന്നാൽ  കസഖ്സ്ഥാനിലെ റഷ്യൻ ഇടപെടലിൽ യുഎസ് ആശങ്ക പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ചു.

Former Prime Minister and National Security Council chairman Karim Massimov has been arrested in Kazakhstan on charges of treason for supporting an uprising over rising fuel prices. Last week, Massimov was removed from the presidency by President Qasim Johart Tokayev. Massimov was prime minister twice when Noor Sultan Nazarbayev was president. Despite the resignation of the government and the declaration of a state of emergency in the country, the agitation continues. It is estimated that 26 people were killed in the police firing. Eighteen security personnel were also killed in the violence. 4400 people have been arrested.

The situation in the city of Almaty was generally calm yesterday, with the president ordering the attackers to open fire. However, the police returned to protest. There were gunshots all over Kisilorda. There is a heavy military presence in all the major cities. The Collective Security Treaty Organization, a military alliance of six former Soviet republics led by Russia, has sent 2,500 troops to Kazakhstan for peacekeeping. They provide security, including for the president's office. But the U.S. has expressed concern over Russian intervention in Kazakhstan.
