അരുണാചൽ പ്രദേശിലെ ഇന്ത്യ - ചൈന അതിർത്തിയായ ഗാല്‍വനിൽ ഏറ്റുമുട്ടലില്‍ പങ്കെടുത്ത് പരിക്കേറ്റ സൈനികനെ ശൈത്യകാല ബെയ്ജിങ് ഒളിംപിക്‌സില്‍ ദീപശിഖയേന്താന്‍ നിയോഗിച്ച ചൈനയുടെ നടപടിയെ ശക്തമായി അപലപിച്ച് അമേരിക്ക. ഇന്ത്യ - ചൈന അതിര്‍ത്തിയില്‍ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ സൈനികരുമായുള്ള ഏറ്റുമുട്ടലില്‍ പരിക്കേറ്റ സൈനിക കമാന്‍ഡർ ക്വി ഫബാവോ ആയിരിക്കും ശൈത്യകാല ബെയ്ജിങ് ഒളിംപിക്‌സില്‍ ദീപശിഖയേന്തുക എന്ന വാര്‍ത്ത പുറത്തുവന്നതിനു പിന്നാലെയാണ് ഒളിംപിക്‌സിനെ രാഷ്ട്രീയവത്കരിക്കാനുള്ള ചൈനയുടെ നീക്കത്തിലുള്ള പ്രതിഷേധം അമേരിക്ക പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ചത്.

ഗാല്‍വന്‍ താഴ്വവരയില്‍ ഉണ്ടായ സംഘര്‍ഷത്തില്‍ 20 ഇന്ത്യന്‍ സൈനികരാണ് വീരമൃത്യു വരിച്ചത്. എന്നാല്‍ തങ്ങള്‍ക്കുണ്ടായ സൈനിക നഷ്ടം എത്രയെന്ന് വെളിപ്പെടുത്താന്‍ ഇതുവരെ ചൈന തയ്യാറായിട്ടില്ല. എന്നാൽ നാല്‍പതോളം ചൈനീസ് സൈനികര്‍ ഗാൽവനിൽ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടതായാണ് അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് ചെയ്തത്.
