എൻ ബിരേൻ സിങ് വീണ്ടും മണിപ്പുർ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയാവും. ബിജെപിയുടെ കേന്ദ്ര നിരീക്ഷകയായി എത്തിയ മന്ത്രി നിർമല സീതാരാമനാണ് ബിരേൻ സിങ്ങിനെ അടുത്ത മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയായി പാർട്ടി നിയമസഭാ കക്ഷി യോഗത്തിനു ശേഷം പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചത്. ബിരേൻ സിങ്ങിനെ യോഗം ഏകകണ്ഠമായി നിയമസഭാ കക്ഷി നേതാവായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തതായി നിർമല സീതാരാമൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

ബിജെപിക്ക് മണിപ്പൂരിൽ ഭൂരിപക്ഷം കിട്ടിയെങ്കിലും 10 ദിവസമായി മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയെ നിശ്ചയിക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞിരുന്നില്ല. ബിരേൻ സിങ്ങും മുതിർന്ന എം എൽ എ ബിശ്വജിത് സിങ്ങും തമ്മിൽ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി സ്ഥാനത്തിനു വേണ്ടി തർക്കം ഉണ്ടായതോടെയാണ് തീരുമാനം നീണ്ടത്. ഇരുവരും ഡൽഹിയിലെത്തി കേന്ദ്രനേതാക്കളുമായും ചർച്ച നടത്തിയിരുന്നു. ചർച്ചകൾക്കൊടുവിൽ ഒടുവിൽ രണ്ടാമതും ബിരേൻ സിങ്ങിനെ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയാക്കാൻ കേന്ദ്ര നേതൃത്വം തീരുമാനിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. ഈ തീരുമാനം നിയമസഭാ കക്ഷി യോഗത്തിനു ശേഷം നിർമല സീതാരാമൻ പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.

The BJP got a majority in Manipur but could not appoint a chief minister for 10 days. The decision was taken after a dispute between Biren Singh and senior MLA Bishwajit Singh over the Chief Minister's post. The two had reached Delhi and held discussions with central leaders. After discussions, the central leadership finally decided to make Biren Singh the Chief Minister for the second time. The decision was announced by Nirmala Sitharaman after the assembly party meeting.
