ഗാര്‍ഹികാവശ്യത്തിനുള്ള പാചകവാതക സബ്സിഡി നിര്ത്തലാക്കിയത് കോവിഡ് മൂലമാണെന്ന മറുപടിയുമായി കേന്ദ്രം. എന്നാല്‍ 2020 മെയ് മാസം മുതല്‍ 2021 നവംബര്‍ മാസം വരെ മാത്രം പാചകവാതക വിലയില്‍ 258 ശതമാനം വര്‍ധനവ് ഉണ്ടായിട്ടുണ്ടെന്ന് കേന്ദ്രം സമ്മതിക്കുന്നുമുണ്ട്. ജനുവരിയിലാണ് കേന്ദ്ര പെട്രോളിയം മന്ത്രാലയം ഭക്ഷ്യ വകുപ്പ് മന്ത്രി അഡ്വ.ജി.ആര്‍. അനിലിന് അയച്ച കത്തില്‍ ഇക്കാര്യം വ്യക്തമാക്കുന്നുത്.

രാജ്യാന്തര വിലയെ അടിസ്ഥാനമാക്കിയാണ് സബ്സിഡി നല്‍കുന്നത്. 2020 മെയ് മാസം വരെ എല്ലാ വിഭാഗം ജനങ്ങള്‍ക്കും പാചകവാതക വിലയുടെ പകുതിയോളം സബ്സിഡി നല്‍കിയിരുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ ആഭ്യന്തര വില കേന്ദ്രത്തിന് താങ്ങാവുന്നതിലും അപ്പുറത്തേക്ക് ഉയര്‍ന്നതുകൊണ്ടാണ് സബ്സിഡി നല്‍കാന്‍ കഴിയാത്തതെന്നും കത്തില്‍ വ്യക്തമാക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.
ആഭ്യന്തര ആവശ്യത്തിന്റെ 55 ശതമാനം ഇറക്കുമതി ചെയ്യുകയാണ് ചെയ്യുന്നത്. സൗദി കരാറിനെ അടിസ്ഥാനപ്പെടുത്തിയാണ് പാചകവാതകത്തിന്റെ വിലയും രാജ്യത്ത് നിശ്ചയിക്കപ്പെടുന്നത്. സൗദി കരാര്‍ തുകയില്‍ 258 ശതമാനമാണ് വര്‍ധനവ് ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കുന്നതെന്നും കത്തില്‍ ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടുന്നു.

It imports 55 per cent of its domestic demand. The price of cooking gas in the country is determined based on the Saudi agreement. The letter also states that the Saudi contract amount has increased by 258 percent.
