ഫുട്ബോൾ ഇതിഹാസം പെലെ അന്തരിച്ചു

 ഫുട്ബോൾ ഇതിഹാസതാരം പെലെ എന്ന എഡ്സൺ അരാഞ്ചസ്‌ ഡോ നാസിമെന്റോ (82) അന്തരിച്ചു. അർബുദബാധയെത്തുടർന്ന് ഏറെ നാളായി  ചികിൽസയിലായിരുന്നു. ഏതാനും ദിവസങ്ങളായി ആശുപത്രിയിൽ പ്രവേശിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുകയായിരുന്ന പെലെ, സാവോ പോളോയിലെ ആശുപത്രിയിലായിരുന്നു അന്ത്യം. 

ലോകം കണ്ട മികച്ച ഫുട്ബോളർമാരിൽ ഒന്നാമനാണ്  പെലെ. 1957 ജൂലൈ ഏഴിന് ആദ്യമായി ബ്രസീൽ ജഴ്സി അണിയുമ്പോൾ പെലെയ്ക്ക് പ്രായം വെറും പതിനാറ് വയസായിരുന്നു. ആദ്യം മത്സരിച്ചത് പരമ്പരാഗത വൈരികളായ അർജന്റീനയ്ക്കെതിരെയും.  അർജന്റീനയോട് അന്ന് ബ്രസീൽ 1-2ന് തോറ്റെങ്കിലും ബ്രസീലിന്റെ ഏകഗോൾ നേടി പെലെ തന്റെ ജൈത്ര യാത്രയ്ക്ക് തുടക്കം കുറിച്ചു. 58 ൽ പതിനേഴാംവയസ്സിൽ സ്വീഡനെതിരായ ലോകകപ്പ് ഫൈനലിലൂടെ ബർസീൽ ആദ്യമായി ലോക കപ്പ് നേടുമ്പോൾ  പെലെയും ലോക ഫുട്ബോളിൻ്റെ മുഴുവൻ ശ്രദ്ധയും കവർന്നിരുന്നു.

ബ്രസീലിന് ആദ്യമായി ലോകകപ്പ് സമ്മാനിച്ചത് പെലെയായിരുന്നു. പെലെയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ ബ്രസീൽ മൂന്നു തവണ ( 1958ൽ, പിന്നെ 1962ൽ, ഒടുവിൽ 1970ൽ ലോകകപ്പ് ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങി. . എന്നാൽ 1962ൽ പരുക്കിനെത്തുടർന്ന് പെലെ ലോകകപ്പിനിടയിൽ പിൻമാറി.  ആകെ നാലു ലോകകപ്പുകളിൽ (1958, 62, 66, 70) പങ്കെടുക്കുകയും പതിനാലു മത്സരങ്ങൾ കളിക്കുകയും ചെയ്ത പെലെ ഇന്നും ലോകകപ്പിലെ വിസ്മയമാണ്. ഫുട്ബോൾ ലോകകപ്പിൽ ഒരുപിടി റെക്കോർഡുകളും പെലെ സ്വന്തമാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.
