14 പേർ സ‍ഞ്ചരിച്ച മി 17 വി 5 എന്ന ഹെലികോപ്റ്ററാണ് ഡിസംബർ 8ന് ബുധനാഴ്ച ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് 12.20ന് ഊട്ടിക്കു സമീപം കൂനൂരിലെ വനമേഖലയിലാണ് തകർന്നു വീണത്. തമിഴ്‌നാട്ടിലെ കോയമ്പത്തൂരിനടുത്തുള്ള സുലൂരിലെ സൈനിക താവളത്തിൽനിന്ന് പറന്നുയർന്നതിന് പിന്നാലെ ഹെലികോപ്റ്റർ തകർന്നുവീഴുകയായിരുന്നു. ഊട്ടിയിലെ ഡിഫൻസ് സർവീസസ് സ്റ്റാഫ് കോളേജ് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന വെല്ലിങ്ടണിലേക്കായിരുന്നു യാത്ര.
Group captain Varun Singh, 39, who was undergoing treatment in Bangalore after being seriously injured in Coonoor helicopter crash, has died. He was treated at a military hospital in Bengaluru. The death toll from the Coonoor Air Force Helicopter crash has risen to 14, including the Chiefs of Defence Staff. Thirteen people, including Joint Chiefs of Defence Staff of Indian Armed Forces Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat, were killed on the day of the accident.
The Mi-17V5, a helicopter carrying 14 people, crashed in the forest area of Coonoor near Ooty at 12.20 pm on Wednesday, December 8. The helicopter crashed after taking off from a military base in Sulur, near Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. The trip was to Wellington, where the Defense Services Staff College is located in Ooty.
