കൂനൂര്‍ ഹെലികോപ്റ്റര്‍ അപകടം - യന്ത്രത്തകരാറോ അട്ടിമറിയോ അല്ലെന്ന് അന്വേഷണ റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട്
സംയുക്ത സൈനിക മേധാവി ജനറല്‍ ബിപിന്‍ റാവത്തും ഭാര്യ മധുലിക റാവത്തും ഉള്‍പ്പെടെ 14 പേരുടെ മരണത്തിനിടയാക്കിയ ഹെലികോപ്റ്റര്‍ അപകടത്തിൻ്റെ കാരണം യന്ത്രത്തകരാറോ അട്ടിമറിയോ അല്ലെന്ന് അന്വേഷണ റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട്. കാലാവസ്ഥ വ്യതിയാനം മൂലം ഹെലികോപ്റ്റര്‍ മേഘങ്ങളില്‍ കുടുങ്ങി ഭൂപ്രദേശത്ത് ഇടിച്ചതാണ് അപകടത്തിന് കാരണമെന്ന് ഇന്ത്യന്‍ എയര്‍ഫോഴ്സ് വൃത്തങ്ങളെ ഉദ്ധരിച്ച് വാര്‍ത്താ ഏജന്‍സിയായ എഎന്‍ഐ റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് ചെയ്തു. അപകടകാരണം സംബന്ധിച്ച പ്രാഥമിക കണ്ടെത്തലുകള്‍ അന്വേഷണ സംഘം പ്രതിരോധ മന്ത്രിക്ക് കഴിഞ്ഞ ആഴ്ച സമര്‍പ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു. 'താഴ്‌വരയിലെ കാലാവസ്ഥയിലുണ്ടായ അപ്രതീക്ഷിത വ്യതിയാനം മൂലം ഹെലികോപ്റ്റര്‍ മേഘങ്ങളില്‍ പ്രവേശിച്ചതാണ് അപകട കാരണം. ഇത് പൈലറ്റിനെ കോപ്റ്ററിൻ്റെ ഉയരം മനസിലാക്കാൻ കഴിയാത്ത ആവസ്ഥയിലേക്ക് നയിച്ചു. ഇത് ഹെലികോപ്റ്റര്‍ ഇടിച്ചിറങ്ങാന്‍ കാരണമായി എന്ന് ഇന്ത്യന്‍ വ്യോമസേന പ്രസ്താവനയില്‍ പറഞ്ഞു. ഇതാദ്യമായാണ് വ്യോമസേന അന്വേഷണത്തിലെ കണ്ടെത്തലുകള്‍ ഔദ്യോഗികമായി പുറത്തുവിടുന്നത്.
ഹെലികോപ്റ്ററിലെ ഫ്‌ളൈറ്റ് ഡേറ്റ റെക്കോര്‍ഡറും കോക്ക്പിറ്റ് വോയ്സ് റെക്കോര്‍ഡറും അന്വേഷണ സംഘം വിശകലനം ചെയ്തു. കൂടാതെ അപകടത്തിൻ്റെ കാരണം കണ്ടെത്താന്‍ ലഭ്യമായ എല്ലാ സാക്ഷികളെയും ചോദ്യം ചെയ്തു. മെക്കാനിക്കല്‍ തകരാര്‍, അട്ടിമറി, പൈലറ്റിൻ്റെ അശ്രദ്ധ എന്നിവ അപകട കാരണമല്ലെന്നും അന്വേഷണ റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടില്‍ പറയുന്നു. എയര്‍ മാര്‍ഷല്‍ മാനവേന്ദ്ര സിങ്ങിൻ്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലായിരുന്നു അന്വേഷണം. ഡിസംബര്‍ എട്ടിനാണ് വ്യോമസേനയുടെ Mi-17 V5 ഹെലികോപ്റ്റര്‍ അപകടത്തില്‍പ്പെട്ട് ജനറല്‍ ബിപിന്‍ റാവത്തുള്‍പ്പെടെ 14 പേര്‍ മരിച്ചത്. സുലൂരില്‍ നിന്ന് വെല്ലിംഗ്ടണിലേക്ക് പോകവെയായിരുന്നു അപകടം. കോയമ്പത്തൂർ സൂലൂർ വ്യോമസേനാ കേന്ദ്രത്തിൽ നിന്നാണ് വെല്ലിങ്ടൺ ഡിഫൻസ് സർവീസ് സ്റ്റാഫ് കോളേജിൽ (ഡി.എസ്.എസ്.സി.) നടക്കുന്ന ചടങ്ങിൽ പങ്കെടുക്കാനായി സേനാ മേധാവിയടക്കമുള്ളവർ പുറപ്പെട്ടത്.
The helicopter crash that killed 14 people, including Joint Chiefs of Staff General Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat, was not caused by a mechanical failure or a coup, according to an investigation report. The investigation report also states that mechanical failure, coup and pilot negligence were not the cause of the accident. The investigation was led by Air Marshal Manavendra Singh. On December 8, 14 people, including General Bipin Rawat, were killed when an Air Force Mi-17 V5 helicopter crashed. The accident happened on the way from Sulur to Wellington. The Chief of Army Staff left the Sulur Air Force Base in Coimbatore to attend a function at the Wellington Defense Service Staff College (DSSC).
