ഇനി ഹിപ്പോക്രാറ്റിക് പ്രതിജ്ഞ ഇല്ല, പകരം മഹർഷി ചരക് ശപഥ്

ഒന്നാം വർഷ എംബിബിഎസ് വിദ്യാർഥികൾ പഠനത്തിൻ്റെ ആദ്യ ദിവസം ചൊല്ലുന്ന ‘ഹിപ്പോക്രാറ്റിക് പ്രതിജ്ഞ’ ഒഴിവാക്കി, ചരക മഹർഷിയുടെ പേരിലുള്ള പ്രതിജ്ഞ (മഹർഷി ചരക് ശപഥ്) ഉൾപ്പെടുത്താൻ ദേശീയ മെഡിക്കൽ കമ്മിഷൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചു. ഇതിന് ഉടൻ കേന്ദ്ര സർക്കാർ അംഗീകാരം ലഭിക്കുമെന്നാണു സൂചന. ഹിപ്പോക്രാറ്റിക് പ്രതിജ്ഞയ്ക്ക് പകരം ഭാരതീയമായ സംവിധാനം കൊണ്ട് വരണമെന്ന ആർ എസ് എസ് നിർദ്ദേശം ഇതുവഴി നടപ്പിലാകുന്നതെന്നാണ് സൂചന. ഭാരതീയമായ രീതിയിൽ മെഡിക്കൽ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾക്ക് സത്യപ്രതിജ്ഞ ചൊല്ലിക്കൊടുക്കുന്ന പരിപാടികൾ ആർ എസ് എസ് നടത്താറുണ്ട്. എന്നാൽ ഈ വിഷയവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് പ്രതികരിക്കാൻ ദേശീയ മെഡിക്കൽ കമ്മീഷൻ സെക്രട്ടറി സന്ധ്യ ഭുള്ളർ തയ്യാറായില്ല

മെഡിക്കൽ വിദ്യാർഥികൾ പഠനം പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയശേഷം ബിരുദദാനച്ചടങ്ങിൽ ഹിപ്പോക്രാറ്റിക് ഓത്ത് (ഹിപ്പോക്രാറ്റിന്റെ പ്രതിജ്ഞ) സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നതാണ് രീതി. എന്നാൽ പഠനാരംഭത്തിൽ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾക്ക്  വെളുത്ത കോട്ട് നൽകുന്ന ചടങ്ങിലും (വൈറ്റ് കോട്ട് സെറിമണി) ഈ പ്രതിജ്ഞ ചൊല്ലാറുണ്ട്. പ്രാചീന ഗ്രീക്ക് ഭിഷഗ്വരനായ ഹിപ്പോക്രാറ്റസ് ആധുനീക ചികിത്സാവിദ്യയുടെ പിതാവായാണ് ലോകമെങ്ങും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. ലോക മെഡിക്കൽ അസോസിയേഷൻ 1948 ൽ അംഗീകരിച്ച പ്രതിജ്ഞയാണ് ഇപ്പോൾ മെഡിക്കൽ വിദ്യാർഥികൾ ചൊല്ലുന്നത്. പ്രാചീന ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ഭിഷഗ്വരനാണ് ചരകൻ. പുതിയ പ്രതിജ്‍ഞ മെഡിക്കൽ കമ്മിഷൻ്റെ വെബ്സൈറ്റിൽ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കും. ബിരുദ പഠനം പൂർത്തിയാകുമ്പോഴും ഇതുതന്നെയാണോ ചൊല്ലേണ്ടതെന്നു വ്യക്തമല്ല.

The National Medical Commission has decided to omit the ‘Hippocratic Pledge’ taken by first year MBBS students on the first day of study and include the Pledge of Allegiance (Sage Charak Shapath) in the name of Charaka Maharshi. The indication is that this will get the approval of the Central Government soon. This suggests that the RSS's proposal to replace the Hippocratic Pledge with an Indian system is being implemented. The RSS also conducts swearing-in ceremonies for medical students in an Indian manner. But National Medical Commission Secretary Sandhya Bhullar declined to comment on the matter

The practice is for medical students to receive the Hippocratic Oath (Hippocratic Oath) at the graduation ceremony after graduation. However, the vows are also taken at the white coat ceremony (white coat ceremony). Hippocrates, the ancient Greek physician, is known around the world as the father of modern medicine. The pledge, approved by the World Medical Association in 1948, is now being read by medical students. Charakan was a physician of ancient India. The new pledge will be published on the Medical Commission's website. It is not clear whether this is the case even after graduation.
