കോൺഗ്രസ് അധ്യക്ഷയായി തത്കാലം സോണിയ തുടരും. പുതിയ അധ്യക്ഷൻ പ്ലീനറി സമ്മേളനത്തിൽ. തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് തന്ത്രങ്ങൾ പിഴച്ചെന്ന് പ്രവർത്തക സമിതിയിൽ വിലയിരുത്തൽ. 

കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ് ഇടക്കാല അധ്യക്ഷയായി സോണിയാ ഗാന്ധി തന്നെ തുടരും. അഞ്ച് സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലെ നിയമസസഭാ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് തോല്‍വി ചര്‍ച്ചചെയ്യാന്‍ ചേര്‍ന്ന അടിയന്തര കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ് പ്രവര്‍ത്തക സമിതി യോഗത്തിൻ്റെതാണ് തീരുമാനം. പ്രവര്‍ത്തക സമിതിയിൽ പങ്കെടുത്ത നേതാക്കളില്‍ ആരും നേതൃമാറ്റ ആവശ്യം ഉന്നയിച്ചില്ലെന്നാണ് റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട്. ഇതോടെ സെപ്റ്റംബറില്‍ നടക്കുന്ന സംഘടനാ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പുവരെ സോണിയ തന്നെ കോൺഗ്രസിനെ നയിക്കുമെന്ന് ഏറക്കുറെ ഉറപ്പായി. 

കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ്സ് ദുര്‍ബലപ്പെടുന്നതിന് കാരണം ഗാന്ധി കുടുംബമാണെന്ന് ചില നേതാക്കള്‍ പറയുന്നുണ്ടെന്നും അത്തരമൊരു അഭിപ്രായം ഉണ്ടെങ്കിൽ ഇടക്കാല അധ്യക്ഷ സ്ഥാനം രാജിവെയ്ക്കാൻ തയ്യാറാണെന്നും യോഗത്തില്‍ സോണി യോഗത്തിൽ പറഞ്ഞു. എന്നാല്‍, സോണിയ ഗാന്ധിയുടെ രാജിസന്നദ്ധത തള്ളിയ പ്രവര്‍ത്തകസമിതി, ഗാന്ധികുടുംബത്തില്‍ പൂര്‍ണ വിശ്വാസം പ്രകടിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് തന്ത്രങ്ങള്‍ പിഴച്ചതാണ് പരാജയ കാരണമെന്നും പ്രവർത്തക സമിതി യോഗം വിലയിരുത്തി.

ദേശീയ നേതൃത്വത്തിനെതിരേ വിമര്‍ശനങ്ങള്‍ ഉയര്‍ത്തിയ ജി 23 നേതാക്കളില്‍ ആരും യോഗത്തില്‍ സോണിയയുടെ രാജി ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടില്ല. യോഗത്തില്‍ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് നടന്ന സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളുടെ ചുമതലയുള്ള നേതാക്കള്‍ ആരും രാജിവെയ്ക്കുകയോ രാജിസന്നദ്ധത അറിയിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്തില്ല. പരാജയത്തിൻ്റെ ഉത്തരവാദിത്വം ഏറ്റെടുത്ത് രാഹുല്‍ ഗാന്ധി, പ്രിയങ്ക ഗാന്ധി ഉള്‍പ്പെടെയുള്ള നേതാക്കൾ രാജിവച്ചേക്കുമെന്ന് നേരത്തെ സ്ഥിരീകരിക്കാത്ത റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടുകളുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് തോല്‍വിയില്‍ പാർട്ടിക്ക് കൂട്ടുത്തരവാദിത്വം ഉണ്ടെന്ന വിലയിരുത്തലാണ് നാലര മണിക്കൂറോളം നീണ്ട യോഗത്തില്‍ പ്രധാനമായും ഉയര്‍ന്നത്. തോല്‍വി അതീവഗൗരവതരമാണെന്നും ക്രിയാത്മക പ്രതിപക്ഷമെന്ന നിലയില്‍ പരാജയപ്പെട്ട എല്ലാ സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളില്ലും  കൃത്യയമായ ഇടപെടല്‍ നടത്തുമെന്നും പ്രവര്‍ത്തകസമിതി യോഗം പുറത്തിറക്കിയ പ്രമേയത്തില്‍ പറയുന്നു. കോൺഗ്രസിൻ്റെ സംഘടനാ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് മുന്‍ നിശ്ചയിച്ച പ്രകാരം തന്നെ നടക്കും. തോല്‍വിയുടെ പശ്ചാത്തലത്തില്‍ സംഘടനാ പരമായ  പരിഹരിക്കാനും ആവശ്യമായ തിരുത്തലുകള്‍ വരുത്താനും പ്രവര്‍ത്തന സമിതി സോണിയാ ഗാന്ധിയെ ചുമതലപ്പെടുത്തി.

തോല്‍വിയുടെ ഗൗരവം പാര്‍ട്ടി മനസിലാക്കുന്നുവെന്നും പാര്‍ലമെൻ്റ് സമ്മേളനത്തിന് ശേഷം മുതിര്‍ന്ന നേതാക്കളുടെ ചിന്തന്‍ ശിബിരം സംഘടിപ്പിക്കുമെന്നും സംഘടനാകാര്യ ജനറല്‍ സെക്രട്ടറി കെ സി വേണുഗോപാല്‍ വാര്‍ത്താ സമ്മേളനത്തില്‍ വ്യക്തമാക്കി. ചിന്തന്‍ ശിബിരത്തില്‍ പാര്‍ട്ടിയെ എങ്ങനെ മുന്നോട്ടുനയിക്കണമെന്ന കാര്യത്തില്‍ കൃത്യമായ ചര്‍ച്ചകള്‍ നടക്കുമെന്നും ഇതിൻ്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തില്‍ പാര്‍ട്ടി മുന്നോട്ടുപോകുമെന്നും ആദ്ദേഹം വ്യക്തമാക്കി.

ഇതിനിടെ സ്തുതിപാഠകരെ വച്ച് മുന്നോട്ടുപോകാനാകില്ലെന്ന് മുല്ലപ്പള്ളി രാമചന്ദ്രൻ പറഞ്ഞു. കണ്ണൂരിൽ പത്രക്കാരുടെ ചോദ്യങ്ങൾക്ക് മറുപടി പറയവെയാണ് മുൻ കെ പി സി സി അധ്യക്ഷൻ്റെ പരാമർശം. 

Sonia Gandhi will continue as the interim president of the Congress. The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the Congress Working Committee convened to discuss the defeat in the Assembly elections in five states. It is reported that none of the leaders who participated in the working committee raised the demand for a change of leadership. With this, it is almost certain that Sonia herself will lead the Congress till the September general elections.

Sony told the gathering that some leaders were blaming the Gandhi family for the weakening of the Congress and that he was ready to resign as interim president if there was such an opinion. However, the working committee rejected Sonia Gandhi's resignation and expressed full confidence in the Gandhi family. The working committee meeting also blamed the failure on electoral tactics.

None of the G23 leaders who raised criticisms against the national leadership demanded Sonia's resignation at the meeting. None of the leaders in charge of the states where elections were held at the meeting resigned or announced their resignation. Earlier, there were unconfirmed reports that leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, may have taken responsibility for the defeat.

The assessment that the party was collectively responsible for the election defeat was the main point raised during the four-and-a-half hour long meeting. The resolution issued by the working committee meeting said that the defeat was very serious and as a constructive opposition it would take appropriate action in all the failed states. The organizational elections of the Congress will be held as scheduled. In the wake of the defeat, the working committee tasked Sonia Gandhi to make organizational resolutions and make necessary corrections.

KC Venugopal, general secretary of the party, said in a press conference that the party understands the seriousness of the defeat and will organize a think tank for senior leaders after the parliamentary session. He said that there would be proper discussions on how to move the party forward in the think tank and the party would move forward on the basis of this.
