ഇടിക്കൂട്ടിൽ സുവർണ്ണ ലിപികളിൽ ചരിത്രമെഴുതി നിഖാത്ത് സരിന്‍. തുര്‍ക്കിയില്‍ നടന്ന വനിതകളുടെ ലോക ബോക്‌സിങ് ചാമ്പ്യന്‍ഷിപ്പിലാണ് ഇന്ത്യയുടെ നിഖാത്ത് സരിന്‍ സ്വർണ്ണം നേടിയത്. ചാമ്പ്യന്‍ഷിപ്പില്‍ 52 കിലോഗ്രാം വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ മത്സരിച്ച സരിന്‍, ജൂനിയര്‍ വിഭാഗത്തിലെ മുന്‍ ലോകചാമ്പ്യന്‍ കൂടിയാണ്. ലോക ചാമ്പ്യന്‍ഷിപ്പില്‍ സ്വര്‍ണമെഡല്‍ നേടുന്ന അഞ്ചാമത്തെ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ വനിതാ ബോക്‌സറാണ് സരിന്‍.

വ്യാഴാഴ്ച നടന്ന ഫൈനലില്‍ തായ്‌ലന്‍ഡിൻ്റെ ജുതാമാസ് ജിറ്റ്‌പോങ്ങിനെതിരേ നേടിയ 5-0ത്തിൻ്റെ ആധികാരിക ജയത്തോടെയാണ് (30-27, 29-28, 29-28, 30-27, 29-28) നിഖാത്ത് സരിൻ്റെ സ്വര്‍ണ നേട്ടം. വിധികര്‍ത്താക്കളെല്ലാം ഏകകണ്‌ഠേന നിഖാത്ത് സരിനെ വിജയിയായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. മേരി കോം, സരിത ദേവി, ജെന്നി ആര്‍.എല്‍, ലേഖ കെ.സി എന്നിവരാണ് മുൻപ് സ്വർണം നേടിയിട്ടുള്ള ഇന്ത്യൻ താരങ്ങൾ.

നേരത്തെ ബുധനാഴ്ച നടന്ന സെമിയില്‍ ബ്രസീലിന്റെ കരോളിന്‍ ഡി അല്‍മേഡയെ കീഴടക്കിയാണ് സരിന്‍ കിരീടപോരാട്ടത്തിന് യോഗ്യത നേടിയത്.
