കോണ്ഗ്രസ് നേതാവും പഞ്ചാബി ഗായകനുമായ സിദ്ദു മൂസേ വാല വെടിയേറ്റ് മരിച്ചു. പഞ്ചാബിലെ ജവഹര്‍കേയിലെ മാന്‍സയില്‍ വെച്ചാണ് സിദ്ദുവിന് വെടിയേറ്റത്. വെടിവെപ്പില്‍ സിദ്ദു ഉള്‍പ്പെടെ മൂന്ന് പേര്‍ക്ക് ഗുരുതരമായി പരിക്കേറ്റിരുന്നു. ഇവരെ ആശുപത്രിയിലെത്തിച്ചെങ്കിലും സിദ്ദു മരണമടഞ്ഞു. വെടിയുതിര്‍ത്തത് ആരാണെന്ന് തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ല. കുറഞ്ഞത് 30 റൗണ്ട് വെടിവെപ്പ് നടന്നതായാണ് വിവരം. സംഭവത്തിൻ്റെ കൂടുതല്‍ വിശദാംശങ്ങള്‍ ലഭ്യമായിട്ടില്ല.
പഞ്ചാബ് നിയമസഭാ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിന് തൊട്ടുമുന്‍പാണ് സിദ്ദു കോണ്‍ഗ്രസില്‍ ചേരുകയും മാന്‍സയില്‍ നിന്ന് മത്സരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്‌തെങ്കിലും ആം ആദ്മി പാര്‍ട്ടിയുടെ ഡോ. വിജയ് സിംഗ്ലയോട് പരാജയപ്പെടുകയായിരുന്നു.പഞ്ചാബില്‍ സിദ്ദു ഉള്‍പ്പെടെ 424 വിഐപികള്‍ക്ക് ഏര്‍പ്പെടുത്തിയിരുന്ന സുരക്ഷ കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ പിന്‍വലിച്ചിരുന്നു. തൊട്ടടുത്ത ദിവസമാണ് സിദ്ദു വെടിവെപ്പില്‍ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടത്. സുരക്ഷ പിൻവലിച്ചത് താല്‍ക്കാലിക നടപടിയാണെന്നായിരുന്നു സർക്കാർ വിശദീകരണം. ശുഭ്ദീപ് സിങ് സിദ്ദു എന്നാണ് സിദ്ദു മൂസേ വാലയുടെ ഔദ്യോഗിക പേര്.

Congress leader and Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala shot dead Sidhu was shot dead in Mansa, Jawaharlal Nehru Punjab. Three people, including Sidhu, were seriously injured in the shooting. They were rushed to a hospital but Sidhu succumbed to his injuries. It was not immediately clear who fired the shots. No further details of the incident were available.
Although Sidhu joined the Congress shortly before the Punjab Assembly elections and contested from Mansa, the Aam Aadmi Party's Dr. The government had yesterday withdrawn security for 424 VIPs, including Sidhu, in Punjab. Sidhu was shot dead the next day. The government explained that the withdrawal of security was a temporary measure.
