ശ്രീലങ്കന്‍ പ്രതിസന്ധി - പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി മഹീന്ദ രാജ്പക്‌സെ രാജിവെച്ചു

ശ്രീലങ്കന്‍ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി മഹീന്ദ രാജ്പക്‌സെ രാജിവെച്ചു. ശ്രീലങ്ക നേരിടുന്ന സാമ്പത്തിക പ്രതിസന്ധിയില്‍ വന്‍ ജനരോഷമുയരുന്ന സാഹചര്യത്തിലാണ് പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി രാജിവെച്ചത്. സാമ്പത്തിക പ്രതിസന്ധിയിൽ ഉഴലുന്ന രാജ്യത്തെ ഭരണ പ്രതിസന്ധിയും സർക്കാരിന് പ്രതിസന്ധി സൃഷ്ടിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. പ്രതിഷേധങ്ങൾ നിയന്ത്രിക്കാൻ ശ്രീലങ്കയില്‍ രാജ്യവ്യാപകമായി കര്‍ഫ്യൂ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. 

ഇതിനിടെ ആരോഗ്യമന്ത്രി ചന്ന ജയസുമനയും പ്രസിഡൻ്റ് ഗോട്ടബായ രാജപക്‌സെയ്ക്ക് രാജിക്കത്ത് കൈമാറി. രാജ്യവ്യാപകമായി സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ വിരുദ്ധ പ്രക്ഷോഭങ്ങള്‍ നടക്കുന്നതിനിടെ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയുടെ രാജി ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ട് തിങ്കളാഴ്ച പ്രസിഡണ്ടിൻ്റെ ഓഫീസിലേക്ക് ജനം ഇരച്ചുകയറി. പ്രക്ഷോഭകരെ അടിച്ചമര്‍ത്താനുള്ള സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ ശ്രമത്തിനിടെ ഇരുപതോളം പേര്‍ക്ക് പരിക്കേറ്റതായി റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടുണ്ട്. ഇതേ തുടര്‍ന്ന് സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ രാജ്യവ്യാപകമായി കര്‍ഫ്യൂ പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കുകയും തലസ്ഥാനത്ത് സൈന്യത്തെ വിന്യസിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. പ്രതിഷേധങ്ങളെ തുടർന്ന് വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച പ്രസിഡന്റ് ഗോട്ടബായ രാജപക്‌സെ രാജ്യത്ത് അടിയന്തരാവസ്ഥ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചിരുന്നു.

The government has also been hit by a crisis in governance in a country plagued by economic crisis. A nationwide curfew has been declared in Sri Lanka to curb protests.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Channa Jayasumana also handed over his resignation letter to President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. Crowds stormed the president's office on Monday demanding the resignation of the prime minister amid nationwide anti - government protests. Twenty people were reported injured during the government's crackdown on protesters. Following this, the government declared a nationwide curfew and deployed troops in the capital. President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa on Friday declared a state of emergency in the country following the protests.
