റോജർ ഫെഡറർ വിരമിക്കുന്നു

പുൽ കോർട്ടിലെ രാജകുമാരൻ  ടെന്നീസ് ഇതിഹാസം റോജർ ഫെഡറർ വിരമിക്കൽ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു. ഇൻസ്റാഗ്രാമിലും ട്വിറ്ററിലും പോസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്ത വീഡിയോ സന്ദേശത്തിലൂടെയാണ് ഫെഡറർ വിരമിക്കൽ പ്രഖ്യാപനം നടത്തിയത്. 

കഴിഞ്ഞ കുറച്ച് വര്ഷങ്ങളായി പേരുകളുടെ പിടിയിലാണ് 41 കാരനായ സ്വിസ്സ് താരം റോജർ ഫെഡറർ. 1996 ഇൽ 16ആം വയസിൽ തുടങ്ങിയ ടെന്നീസ് കരിയർ അവസാനിപ്പിക്കുമ്പോൾ 20 ഗ്രാൻഡ്സ്ലാം 8 വിംബിൾഡൺ കിരീടം എന്നിവ നേടിയിട്ടുണ്ട് ഫെഡറർ. 310 ആഴ്ചകൾ ടെന്നീസ് റാങ്കിങ്ങിൻ്റെ തലപ്പത്ത് തുടർന്നുവെന്നതും ഫെഡററുടെ കളിയിലെ സ്ഥിരതയെ കാണിക്കുന്നു. 

‘‘എനിക്ക് 41 വയസ്സായി. 24 വർഷത്തിനിടെ കളിച്ചത് 1500ൽ അധികം മത്സരങ്ങൾ. ഞാൻ സ്വപ്നം കണ്ടതിലും എത്രയോ അധികമാണ് ടെന്നിസ് എനിക്കു മടക്കിനൽകിയത്. സജീവ ടെന്നിസിൽനിന്ന് വിരമിക്കാനുള്ള സമയമായെന്ന് ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ തിരിച്ചറിയുന്നു. ലണ്ടനിൽ അടുത്തയാഴ്ച നടക്കുന്ന ലേവർ കപ്പാകും എന്റെ കരിയറിലെ അവസാന എടിപി ടൂർണമെന്റ്. ഭാവിയിൽ ഞാൻ കൂടുതൽ ടെന്നിസ് മത്സരങ്ങൾ കളിക്കുമെന്ന് തീർച്ച. പക്ഷേ, ഗ്രാൻസ്‍ലാം, ടൂർ വേദികളിൽ ഇനി ഞാനുണ്ടാകില്ല’’ വിരമിക്കൽ വിഡിയോയിൽ ഫെഡറർ  പറയുന്നു.

The Prince of Grass Court Tennis legend Roger Federer has announced his retirement. Federer announced his retirement through a video message posted on Instagram and Twitter.

The 41-year-old Swiss star Roger Federer has been in the limelight for the past few years. Federer won 20 Grand Slams and 8 Wimbledon titles when he ended his tennis career, which began in 1996 at the age of 16. 310 weeks at the top of the tennis rankings also shows Federer's consistency in his game.

"I am 41 years old. He played more than 1500 matches in 24 years. Tennis has given me back so much more than I ever dreamed. I now recognize that it is time to retire from active tennis. The Laver Cup in London next week will be the last ATP tournament of my career. I will definitely play more tennis matches in the future. "But I won't be at the Grand Slam and Tour venues anymore," Federer says in his retirement video.
