ബാഴ്സലോണ ഫുട്ബാൾ ക്ലബ്ബുമായുള്ള നീണ്ട പതിനെട്ട് വര്‍ഷത്തെ ബന്ധത്തിന് വിരാമമിട്ട് ലയണല്‍ മെസ്സി ക്ലബ് വിടുന്നു. സ്പാനിഷ് ക്ലബ്ബായ ബാഴ്സലോണ തന്നെയാണ് മെസ്സി ക്ലബ് വിടുന്ന കാര്യം ഔദ്യോഗികമായി പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചത്. സാമ്പത്തികവും സാങ്കേതികവുമായ തടസ്സങ്ങള്‍ കാരണം കരാര്‍ പുതുക്കാന്‍ കഴിയാത്തതിനാല്‍ ലയണല്‍ മെസ്സി ക്ലബ് വിടുകയാണെന്നാണ് ബാഴ്‌സലോണയുടെ വിശദീകരണം. ഇന്ന് വാർത്താക്കുറിപ്പിലൂടെയാണ് ബാഴ്സലോണ ഇക്കാര്യം അറിയിച്ചത്. പതിനെട്ട് വർഷത്തിനിടെ ബാഴ്‌സയുടെ കുപ്പായത്തില്‍ 778 മത്സരങ്ങള്‍ക്കായി മെസ്സി കളത്തിലിറങ്ങി. ഇക്കാലത്തിനിടെ 672 ഗോളുകളും ബാഴ്‌സലോണയ്ക്കായി അദ്ദേഹം നേടിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.
