നൊബേൽ പുരസ്കാര ജേതാവ് ഡെസ്മണ്ട് ടുട്ടു വിട വാങ്ങി - വർണവിവേചന വിരുദ്ധ പോരാട്ടങ്ങളിലെ വിശ്വവിഖ്യാതൻ

ആഫ്രിക്കയിലെ വർണവിവേചനത്തിനെതിരായ പോരാട്ടത്തിലൂടെ വിശ്വവിഖ്യാതനായ സമാധാന നൊബേൽ സമ്മാന ജേതാവ് ആർച്ച്ബിഷപ് ഡെസ്മണ്ട് ടുട്ടു (90) അന്തരിച്ചു. ദക്ഷിണാഫ്രിക്കയിലെ വെള്ളക്കാരുടെ വർണവിവേചനത്തിനെതിരെ നടത്തിയ സുദീർഘ പോരാട്ടത്തിൽ നെൽസൻ മണ്ടേലയ്ക്കൊപ്പം മുൻനിരയിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന ആളാണ് ടുട്ടു. ദക്ഷിണാഫ്രിക്കൻ ആംഗ്ലിക്കൻ സഭയുടെ ആർച്ച്ബിഷപ്പായിരുന്നു. എൽജിബിടി വിഭാഗങ്ങളുടെ അവകാശങ്ങൾക്കായും ഇദ്ദേഹം ശക്തമായി നിലകൊണ്ടു.

ജൊഹാനസ്ബർഗിനു സമീപം ക്ലേർക്സ്ഡ്രോപ്പിൽ 1931 ഒക്ടോബർ 7നായിരുന്നു ഡെസ്മണ്ട് ടുട്ടുവിൻ്റെ ജനനം. 1961ൽ വൈദിക പട്ടം നേടിയ ഇദ്ദേഹം, ആഫ്രിക്കൻ രാജ്യമായ ലെസോത്തോയിലും ബ്രിട്ടനിലും സേവനമനുഷ്ടിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. 1985ൽ ജൊഹാനസ്ബർഗിലെ കറുത്തവർഗക്കാരനായ ആദ്യ ആംഗ്ലിക്കൻ ബിഷപ്പായി. 1986ൽ കേപ് ടൗണിലെ കറുത്തവർഗക്കാരനായ ആദ്യ ആർച്ച്ബിഷപ്പായി ചരിത്രം തിരുത്തിക്കുറിച്ചു.

അഹിംസാ മാർഗത്തിലൂന്നിയുള്ള വർണവിവേചന വിരുദ്ധ പോരാട്ടത്തിനു 1984ൽ സമാധാനത്തിനുള്ള നൊബേൽ പുരസ്കാരം ഇദ്ദേഹത്തെ തേടിയെത്തി. ഉറച്ച ഗാന്ധിയൻ നിലപാടുകാരനായ ഡെസ്മണ്ട് ടുട്ടുവിന് 2007ൽ ഗാന്ധി സമാധാന പുരസ്കാരവും ലഭിച്ചു. വർണവിവേചനത്തിൻ്റെ യഥാർഥ ചരിത്രം പുറത്തുകൊണ്ടുവരാനായി, നെൽസൺ മണ്ടേല പ്രസിഡൻ്റായുള്ള ജനാധിപത്യ സർക്കാർ 1994ഇൽ നിയോഗിച്ച വിദഗ്‌ദ്ധ സമിതിയുടെ അധ്യക്ഷനായും ഡെസ്മണ്ട് ടുട്ടു പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize for his work in Africa, has died at the age of 90. Tutu was at the forefront of Nelson Mandela's struggle against white apartheid in South Africa. He was Archbishop of the South African Anglican Church. He also advocated for the rights of the LGBT community.

Desmond Tutu was born on October 7, 1931, in Clerksdrop, near Johannesburg. He was ordained a priest in 1961 and has served in the African country of Lesotho and the United Kingdom. In 1985, he became the first black Anglican bishop of Johannesburg. In 1986, he became the first black archbishop of Cape Town.

He was awarded the 1984 Nobel Peace Prize for his non-violent struggle against apartheid. Desmond Tutu, a staunch Gandhian, won the 2007 Gandhi Peace Prize. Desmond Tutu has also chaired a panel of experts appointed by the Democratic government in 1994 under President Nelson Mandela to uncover the true history of apartheid.
