ഈ കൊല്ലം ജയിലിൽ അടയ്ക്കപ്പെട്ടത് 488 മാധ്യമപ്രവര്‍ത്തകര്‍, അപകടകരമായ രാജ്യങ്ങളില്‍ ഇന്ത്യയും

ഈ കൊല്ലം ലോകത്താകമാനം 488 മാധ്യമപ്രവര്‍ത്തകർ ജയിലലടയ്ക്കപ്പെട്ടെന്ന് റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട്. റിപ്പോർട്ടിങ് തുടങ്ങി 25 വര്‍ഷത്തിനിടെയുള്ള ഏറ്റവും ഉയര്‍ന്ന കണക്കാണിത്. ഇതേ ലാലയളവിൽ ലകത്താകമാനം 46 മാധ്യമപ്രവര്‍ത്തകരാണ്  കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടത്. ഈ കണക്കുകള്‍ ശേഖരിക്കാന്‍ തുടങ്ങിയ ശേഷമുള്ള ഏറ്റവും കുറഞ്ഞ കൊലപാതക നിരക്കാണിത്. മാധ്യമസ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തിനായി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്ന ആര്‍ എസ് എഫ് എന്ന എന്‍ ജി ഒ പുറത്തുവിട്ടതാണ് ഈ കണക്കുകള്‍.

എല്ലാതവണത്തേയും പോലെ ചൈന തന്നെയാണ് ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതല്‍ മാധ്യമപ്രവര്‍ത്തകരെ ഈ വര്‍ഷവും ജയിലിലടച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. 127 മാധ്യമപ്രവര്‍ത്തകരെയാണ് ചൈന ഈ വര്‍ഷം അഴിക്കുള്ളിൽ തള്ളിയത്. കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ട മാധ്യമപ്രവര്‍ത്തകരുടെ എണ്ണം പ്രകാരം മെക്‌സിക്കോയും അഫ്ഗാനിസ്ഥാനുമാണ് മാധ്യമപ്രവര്‍ത്തനത്തിന് ഏറ്റവും അപകടരമായ രാജ്യങ്ങളായി ആര്‍ എസ് എഫ് കണക്കാക്കുന്നത്. ആറ് മാധ്യമപ്രവര്‍ത്തകരാണ് ഇരു രാജ്യങ്ങളിലും കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടത്. യമനും ഇന്ത്യയുമാണ് തൊട്ട് പിറകിലുള്ള രാജ്യങ്ങൾ. നാല് മാധ്യമപ്രവര്‍ത്തകരാണ് ഈ രാജ്യങ്ങളില്‍ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടത്.

ഈ കണക്കുകള്‍ ശേഖരിക്കാന്‍ തുടങ്ങിയ 1995 മുതല്‍ ജയലയ്ക്കപ്പെടുന്ന മാധ്യമപ്രവര്‍ത്തകരുടെ എണ്ണം ഇത്രത്തോളം ഉയര്‍ന്നിട്ടില്ലെന്ന് ആര്‍ എസ് എഫ് പ്രസ്താവനയില്‍ പറഞ്ഞു. മ്യാന്‍മര്‍, ബെലാറസ്, ഹോങ്‌കോങ് എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലെ മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ക്കെതിരായ അടിച്ചമര്‍ത്തല്‍ മൂലം തടവിലാക്കപ്പെടുന്ന മാധ്യമപ്രവര്‍ത്തകരുടെ എണ്ണത്തില്‍ 20 ശതമാനം ഉയര്‍ച്ചയാണ് ഈ വര്‍ഷമുണ്ടായത്. 46 മാധ്യമപ്രവര്‍ത്തകര്‍ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടതില്‍ ഭൂരിപക്ഷവും ആസൂത്രിത കൊലപാതകങ്ങളായിരുന്നുവെന്നും ആര്‍ എസ് എഫ് പുറത്തുവിട്ട കണക്കുകളില്‍ പറയുന്നു.  

This year, 488 journalists worldwide were reported to have been imprisoned. This is the highest number in 25 years since reporting began. At the same time, 46 journalists were killed worldwide. This is the lowest murder rate since the data was collected. The figures were released by the RSF, an NGO working for media freedom.

As always, China has imprisoned the largest number of journalists this year. China has thrown 127 journalists into the abyss this year. The RSF considers Mexico and Afghanistan to be the most dangerous countries for journalism, according to the number of journalists killed. Six journalists were killed in both countries. Yemen and India are next in line. Four journalists were killed in these countries. The RSF said in a statement that the number of jailed journalists had not risen so much since 1995, when it began collecting data. In Myanmar, Belarus and Hong Kong, the number of journalists imprisoned for repression of the media has risen by 20 percent this year. According to figures released by the RSF, the majority of the 46 journalists killed were premeditated.
