അസാൻജിനെ യുഎസിന് കൈമാറാം - ലണ്ടൻ ഹൈക്കോടതി. അപ്പീൽ നൽകും - കാമുകി

പതിനായിരക്കണക്കിനു അമേരിക്കയുടെ അടക്കം സൈനിക, നയതന്ത്ര രഹസ്യരേഖകൾ പുറത്തുവിട്ടതിന് വിചാരണ നേരിടുന്ന വിക്കിലീക്സ് സ്ഥാപകൻ ജൂലിയൻ അസാൻജിനെ അമേരിക്കയ്ക്ക് കൈമാറാമെന്ന് ലണ്ടൻ ഹൈക്കോടതി ഉത്തരവിട്ടു. അസാൻജിൻ്റെ മാനസികാരോഗ്യം പരിഗണിച്ച് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ യുഎസിനു കൈമാറരുതെന്ന കീഴ്ക്കോടതി വിധി ഹൈക്കോടതി റദ്ദാക്കി. യുഎസ് അധികൃതർ നൽകിയ അപ്പീലിലാണിത്. നീതിയുടെ ലംഘനമാണിതെന്നും അപ്പീൽ നൽകുമെന്നും അസാൻജിൻ്റെ കാമുകി സ്റ്റെല്ല മോറിസ് അറിയിച്ചു. 175 വർഷംവരെ ജയിൽശിക്ഷ ലഭിക്കാവുന്ന 17 ചാരവൃത്തി കുറ്റങ്ങളാണ് അമേരിക്ക അസാൻജിനെതിരെ ചുമത്തിയിട്ടുള്ളത്. 

2010–11 ലാണ് വിക്കിലീക്സ് യുഎസ് രഹസ്യരേഖകൾ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചത്. 2007 ൽ ബഗ്ദാദിൽ യുഎസ് ആക്രമണത്തിൽ 2 റോയിട്ടേഴ്സ് റിപ്പോർട്ടർമാർ ഉൾപ്പെടെ 12 പേർ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ട സംഭവത്തിൻ്റെ രഹസ്യങ്ങൾ പുറത്ത്‌വിട്ടായിരുന്നു തുടക്കം. സ്വീഡനിൽ ലൈംഗിക ആരോപണം നേരിടുന്ന അസാൻജ് അവർക്കു കൈമാറുന്നത് ഒഴിവാക്കാൻ 2012 ൽ ലണ്ടനിലെ ഇക്വഡോർ എംബസിയിൽ അഭയം തേടിയതാണ്. എംബസി വിട്ടു പുറത്തിറങ്ങാത്തതിനാൽ ബ്രിട്ടന് ഒന്നും ചെയ്യാനായില്ല. എന്നാൽ ഇക്വഡോറുമായുള്ള ബന്ധം വഷളായതോടെ തോടെ 2019 ൽ ഇക്വഡോറിൻ്റെ അനുമതിയോടെ അസാൻജിനെ ബ്രിട്ടിഷ് പൊലീസ് അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്ത് ജയിലിലടച്ചു.

മാനസികനില തകരാറിലായതിനാൽ ആത്മഹത്യ ചെയ്യാനുള്ള സാധ്യത ഉണ്ടെന്ന വാദമാങ്ങീകരിച്ചതിനാലാണ് കീഴ്കോടതി വിധി അസാൻജിന് അനുകൂലമായത്. എന്നാൽ, ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ സുരക്ഷയുള്ള കൊളറാഡോ ജയിലിൽ അസാൻജിനെ സുരക്ഷിതമായി പാർപ്പിക്കുമെന്ന് യുഎസ് അപ്പീലിൽ ഉറപ്പുനൽകി. യുഎസ് ഭരണകൂടത്തിൻ്റെ അധികാര ദുരുപയോഗ നടപടികൾക്കെതിരെ പോരാടുന്ന അസാൻജിന് ലോകമെങ്ങും ഒരുപാട്  ആരാധകരുണ്ട്. 

The London High Court has ordered the extradition of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who is facing trial for leaking tens of thousands of US military and diplomatic documents. The High Court overturned a lower court ruling that Assange should not be extradited to the United States because of his mental illness. The appeal was filed by US authorities. Assange's girlfriend, Stella Morris, has said she will not resign. The United States has charged Assange with 17 counts of espionage, punishable by up to 175 years in prison.

WikiLeaks released US secret documents in 2010–11. It all started when the secrets of the 2007 US attack on Baghdad that killed 12 people, including two Reuters reporters, were leaked. Assange, who faces sexual harassment charges in Sweden, sought asylum in 2012 at the Ecuadorian embassy in London to avoid extradition. As the embassy did not leave, Britain could do nothing. But as relations with Ecuador deteriorated, in 2019, with Ecuador's permission, Assange was arrested and imprisoned by British police.

The lower court ruled in Assange's favor, arguing that he had committed suicide because he was mentally ill. However, the United States has said in a statement that it will not release Assange from custody in the Colorado prison. Assange has many admirers around the world who are fighting against the US government's abuse of power.
