ഗാന്ധി സ്മരണയിൽ രാജ്യം - ഇന്ന് ഗാന്ധിജിയുടെ 74 ആം രക്തസാക്ഷിത്വ ദിനം.

ഇന്ന് മഹാത്മാ ഗാന്ധിയുടെ 74 ആമത് രക്തസാക്ഷിത്വ ദിനം. "നമ്മുടെ ജീവിതത്തിൽ നിന്നും ആ പ്രകാശം പൊലിഞ്ഞു പോയിരിക്കുന്നു. അതൊരു സാധാരണ ദീപമായിരുന്നില്ല.. ഒരായിരം വർഷങ്ങൾക്ക് ശേഷവും അതിവിടെ പ്രകാശം ചൊരിയും.” ഗാന്ധിജിയുടെ മരണവാർത്ത അറിയിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് ജവഹർലാൽ നെഹ്‌റു രാഷ്ട്രത്തോട് നടത്തിയ പ്രഭാഷണത്തിൻ്റെ തുടക്കമാണിത്. 1948 ജനുവരി 30-ന്‌ വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച വൈകുന്നേരം 5.17 ന് ഡൽഹിയിലെ ബിർളാ മന്ദിരത്തിൽ ഒരു പ്രാർത്ഥനാ യോഗത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുക്കവേ ഹിന്ദു മഹാസഭ പ്രവർത്തകനായ നാഥുറാം ഗോഡ്‌സേ എന്ന മതഭ്രാന്തൻ്റെ വെടിയേറ്റ്‌ ഗാന്ധിജി മരണമടഞ്ഞു. ജനുവരി 31ന് ഗാന്ധിയുടെ ഭൗതിക ശരീരം രാജ്ഘട്ടിൽ സംസ്കരിച്ചു. രാജ്യം മുഴുവൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻ്റെ മരണത്തിൽ അനുശോചിച്ചു. നാഥുറാമിനേയും കൂട്ടാളികളേയും അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്ത് വിചാരണ ചെയ്തു. 1949 നവംബർ 15-ന് നാഥുറാം ഗോഡ്സേയും കുറ്റവാളികളെയും തൂക്കിലേറ്റി. ജനുവരി 30 ഇന്ത്യാ ഗവൺമെൻ്റ്  ഷഹീദ് ദിവസ് അഥവാ രക്തസാക്ഷി ദിനമായി പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

രാഷ്ട്രപിതാവ് എന്ന് ഗാന്ധിയെ ആദ്യമായി വിളിച്ചത് നേതാജി സുഭാഷ് ചന്ദ്ര ബോസ് ആയിരുന്നു. ഇന്ത്യക്ക് യഥാർത്ഥമായി സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം കിട്ടണമെങ്കിൽ ഇന്ത്യ ജീവിക്കേണ്ടത് നഗരങ്ങളിലല്ല ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിലാണ്, കൊട്ടാരങ്ങളിലല്ല കുടിലുകളിലാണ് എന്നു ഗാന്ധി വിശ്വസിച്ചിരുന്നു

74th Martyrdom Day of Mahatma Gandhi. "That light is gone from our lives. It was no ordinary lamp. It will still shine here a thousand years later." Jawaharlal Nehru's address to the nation on Friday, January 30, 1948, while attending a prayer meeting at the Birla Mandir in Delhi at 5.17 pm, was shot dead by Hindu Mahasabha activist Nathuram Godse, who died on January 31. Nathuram Godse and his accomplices were arrested and tried, and on November 15, 1949, Nathuram Godse and his accomplices were hanged. January 30 is the day when Mahatma Gandhi was martyred and the Government of India announced the day as Shaheed Diwas or Martyrs'

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was the first to call Gandhi the Father of the Nation. Gandhi believed that for India to truly gain independence, it must live in villages, not in cities, not in palaces, but in huts.
