മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാര്‍ - അണക്കെട്ടില്‍ പുതിയ സുരക്ഷാ പരിശോധന വേണമെന്ന് കേന്ദ്ര ജല കമ്മീഷന്‍
മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാര്‍ അണക്കെട്ടിൻ്റെ നിലവിലെ സുരക്ഷയെക്കുറിച്ച് പഠിക്കാൻ പുതിയ പരിശോധന നടത്തണമെന്ന് കേന്ദ്ര ജല കമ്മീഷന്‍. ഇതിനുള്ള സമയമായെന്നും കേന്ദ്ര ജല കമ്മീഷന്‍ സുപ്രീം കോടതിയെ അറിയിച്ചു. മേല്‍നോട്ട സമിതി അണകെട്ട് സന്ദര്‍ശിച്ച് നടത്തിയ പരിശോധനകളില്‍ സുരക്ഷ തൃപ്തികരമാണെന്ന് കണ്ടത്തിയതായും കമ്മീഷന്‍ സുപ്രീം കോടതിയില്‍ ഫയല്‍ ചെയ്ത തല്‍സ്ഥിതി റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടില്‍ വ്യക്തമാക്കി. മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാര്‍ അണകെട്ടുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട ഹര്‍ജികളില്‍ സുപ്രീംകോടതി ഫെബ്രുവരി രണ്ടാം വാരം അന്തിമ വാദം കേള്‍ക്കല്‍ ആരംഭിക്കാനിരിക്കെയാണ് കേന്ദ്ര ജല കമ്മീഷന്‍ പുതിയ തല്‍സ്ഥിതി റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് ഫയല്‍ ചെയ്തത്. കേന്ദ്ര ജല കമ്മീഷന്‍ ഡെപ്യുട്ടി ഡയറക്ടര്‍ രാകേഷ് കുമാര്‍ ഗൗതം ആണ് പുതിയ തല്‍സ്ഥിതി റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് ഫയല്‍ ചെയ്തത്.
2010 - 2012 കാലത്താണ് ഇതിനുമുമ്പ് അണക്കെട്ടിൻ്റെ സുരക്ഷ പരിശോധന ശാസ്ത്രീയമായി നടത്തിയത്. കേന്ദ്ര ജലകമ്മീഷനും, കേന്ദ്ര സര്‍ക്കാരിൻ്റെ വിവിധ ഏജന്‍സികളും, വിദഗ്ദ്ധരും ചേര്‍ന്നാണ് പരിശോധന നടത്തിയത്. ആ പരിശോധനയില്‍ മുല്ലപെരിയാർ അണകെട്ട് സുരക്ഷിതമാണെന്ന് കണ്ടെത്തിയിരുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ ഇതിനുശേഷം സമഗ്രമായ ശാസ്ത്രീയ പരിശോധനകള്‍ ഒന്നും നടന്നിട്ടില്ല. എന്നാൽ സുപ്രീം കോടതി നിയോഗിച്ച മേല്‍നോട്ട സമിതി അണകെട്ട് സന്ദര്‍ശിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ നടത്തിയ പരിശോധനകളില്‍ അണക്കെട്ടിൻ്റെ സുരക്ഷ തൃപ്തികരമാണെന്നാണ് കണ്ടെത്തിയിട്ടുള്ളതെന്നും കേന്ദ്ര ജല കമ്മീഷന്‍ സുപ്രീം കോടതിയെ അറിയിച്ചു.അണകെട്ട് ബലപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതിന് മരം മുറിക്കാനുള്ള അനുമതി കേരളം നല്‍കുന്നില്ലെന്നും തല്‍സ്ഥിതി റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടില്‍ വ്യക്തമാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.
The Central Water Commission (CWC) has called for a new inspection to study the current safety of the Mullaperiyar Dam. The Central Water Commission informed the Supreme Court that it was time for new studies. The commission said in a status report filed in the Supreme Court that the monitoring committee had visited the dam and found that the safety was satisfactory. The Central Water Commission (CWC) has filed a new status report ahead of the Supreme Court's hearing on the Mullaperiyar Dam petition in the second week of February. The new status report was filed by Rakesh Kumar Gautam, Deputy Director, Central Water Commission.
The previous safety test of the dam was conducted scientifically during the period 2010 - 2012. The inspection was carried out by the Central Water Commission and various agencies and experts of the Central Government. During the inspection, it was found that the Mullaperiyar Dam was safe. But since then no comprehensive scientific tests have taken place. However, the Central Water Commission (CWC) informed the apex court that the safety of the dam was found to be "satisfactory" during inspections by a Supreme Court-appointed oversight committee.
