മുഹമ്മദ് ഫൈസലിൻ്റെ അയോഗ്യത പിൻവലിച്ചു
Lakshadweep MP Mohammad Faisal's disqualification withdrawn. The action is taken by the Lok Sabha Secretariat. On January 11, Faisal's MP position became vacant after the Lakshadweep trial court sentenced him to 10 years in the attempted murder case. The very next day the membership was canceled by the Lok Sabha Secretariat. Then the Central Election Commission also announced by-elections in Lakshadweep. Under the People's Presidency Act, 1951, convicted members are disqualified. But on January 25, the Kerala High Court quashed the trial court's verdict, and the action of the Lok Sabha Secretariat, which revoked its membership, was cancelled. Then the by-election process was also frozen. But two months after the Kerala High Court verdict, the Lok Sabha Secretariat was not ready to withdraw the disqualification of Muhammad Faisal. Then Muhammad Faisal approached the Supreme Court. Now the Lok Sabha Secretariat hastily withdrew the case while the Supreme Court was considering it. The disqualification was lifted after it was confirmed that there would be a backlash from the Supreme Court. There was widespread criticism that the Lok Sabha Secretariat did not take action to remove the disqualification even after the court verdict.
