വൈസ് ചാൻസലർ നിയമനം - ഗവർണറുടെ അധികാരം വെട്ടിക്കുറയ്ക്കാൻ തമിഴ്നാടും

സർവകലാശാലകളിൽ ഗവർണർക്കുള്ള അധികാരം വെട്ടിക്കുറയ്ക്കാനുള്ള തീരുമാനവുമായി തമിഴ്നാടും മുന്നോട്ട്. സർവകലാശാല വൈസ് ചാൻസലർമാരെ സംസ്ഥാന സർക്കാർ നേരിട്ടു നിയമിക്കുന്നതിനായുള്ള നിയമഭേദഗതി ബിൽ പാസാക്കുമെന്ന് മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി എം കെ സ്റ്റാലിൻ നിയമസഭയിൽ അറിയിച്ചു. മാർച്ചിലെ സമ്മേളനത്തിൽ വിഷയം ചർച്ച ചെയ്ത് തീരുമാനിക്കും. ഈ വിഷയത്തിൽ നിയമവിദഗ്ധരുമായി കൂടിയാലോചന നടത്തി വരികയാണെന്ന് ഉന്നത വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ മന്ത്രി കെ പൊൻമുടിയും പറഞ്ഞു. 

മഹാരാഷ്ട്ര ഉൾപ്പെടെയുള്ള സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങൾ പിന്തുടരുന്ന മാതൃകയിൽ ഗവർണറുടെ അധികാരങ്ങൾ പരിമിതപ്പെടുത്തണമെന്നും വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളിൽ രാഷ്ട്രീയ ഇടപെടൽ ഇല്ലാതാകണമെന്നും മക്കൾ നീതി മയ്യം അധ്യക്ഷൻ കമൽഹാസൻ ഉൾപ്പെടെയുള്ള രാഷ്ട്രീയ നേതാക്കൾ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു.

Tamil Nadu is moving ahead with a decision to reduce the power of governors in universities. Chief Minister MK Stalin told the assembly that an amendment bill to appoint university vice-chancellors directly to the state government would be passed. The issue will be discussed and decided at the March meeting. Higher Education Minister K Ponmudi also said that legal experts were being consulted on the issue. Political leaders, including Makkal Neeti Mayyam president Kamal Haasan, had demanded that the governor's powers be limited to the model followed by states including Maharashtra and that there be no political interference in educational institutions.
